What a beauty and what a price after only a couple of days of listing it Easy

I wonder what he might have said, he's gone very quiet.

I have 52 years experience of mainly buying football programmes. I find that I am still learning about them. I was very surprised to see in the completed sales of Wigan programmes, even from the very late 50,s going for really high prices. I don't think anyone is 'experienced' enough to know about football programmes unless they specialise in a certain club and dedicate time to that effect. I hope the programme goes at a very high price, if it hasn't already.

Just seen this thread and looked up the programme.

As off now (Sunday 30 August at 3.202pm) it's at £41.00 with 5 bidders offering over £33. And there's 5 days left. I think this could go much higher. My guess £71.

(I should add I have 52 years of buying programmes, but know nothing about Wigan programmes or most other clubs except my own collecting interests.)

I have been collecting programmes and memorabilia for 58 years[since 1962] and other than my own club where i have a seen the price trends fluctuate ever since i started, i have a fair idea of what stuff goes for but i keep that to my self as i do not regard my self as some expert on pricing, i have bought and sold tens of 1000's over the years of none United items also, & again cannot profess to have knowledge to a high degree on other club's items, having to pay OTT for Manchester United all this time, i can look at scarcities like this Wigan item in question and think £40 quid that is buttons-but as i said before what do i know and i am the first to admit it, probably paid too much for too long-some stuff has risen but a lot has dropped like it has for everyone.

Ebay has brought out so much good stuff and too much stuff that needs pulping but it has changed the face of collecting for us all, now we can see what we are buying, i may even have a punt on that Wigan item

Fair comment Leslie. I am glad I only collect Cardiff (and Newport, as well as Merthyr, Barry, Lovell's and LLanelly in the SL). Seeing some of the prices Man U stuff sells for must put off a lot of potential collectors. Same goes for Spurs.

At least with Cardiff some are pricey bu nothing like the bigger clubs. Finding good stuff is hard for all of us though.

It's been a long time since I've wanted a programme price to "fly" as much as I want this one to do.

Some people pay daft prices for programmes on Ebay. That's how it works! Confused

Or, some people have been collecting for 45 years and think that makes them an expert!

I've been out since lunchtime so only just catching up with what I now call 'My Wigan Saga' which I still find strange the way its caught so many of your imaginations, so I really appreciate your comments and interest.

How strange the person who in truth galvanised the interest in my programme has found a new hymn sheet to sing from?

Perhaps he is mellowing?

Would still like an apology from him, for no other reason then anyone reading what he said may have had the impression comments like his are quite normal!

You have all proved that is far from the case.

By doing what so many of you have done, posting your comments on this thread makes me feel proud to be a very small part of this forum, huge pats on the back for you all! Easy Bow Easy Bow Easy

To Albion,
you do not need an apology from him at all as he has boosted interest in your programme, although it would have realised £45 + anyway for reasons already stated.
If it really mattered, I deserve an apology for the way he tersely dismissed my admittedly limited knowledge, on Lancashire non-league programmes.
As to your Dunfermline issue, the amount of fervent collectors that club has and the fact of its scarcity will ensure a very good price.

I think I deserve a thank-you from Albion to be honest for getting his programme a lot more than what it's worth! Laughing

I think its kind of ironic that its taken until now for you to realise what an absolute fool you made of yourself, I believe you will think next time before putting yourself on offer in the way you have on this occasion.

Your delusional attempt to laugh it off at least proves to me that what you did and the subsequent repercussion it caused has cast doubts in your mind as to how clever or even funny you were in the first instance?

Now, is really that hard to say you were sorry, you made a mistake?

Does a much bigger more magnanimous man exist behind 'The Sorter' ?

Sincerely I hope so!

It's just a shame people on here haven't got a sense of humour. Just lighten up! There are lot more things to get upset about at the moment! Neutral

There's a difference between a sense of humor and ignorance. It's kind of sad you can't see that.

It as inevitable that the “it was just a joke “ defence would come out eventually. “It’s not my fault for being rude it’s your fault for not having a sense of humour”, boring
