Putting aside your comment about memorabilia collectors who pay high prices being lunatics - I have to say that some of the items you have posted are quite remarkable. I've been in this game for a long time and it is the first time I've seen some of the items that you have in your collection. So very well done on acquiring them!! |

Your comments much appreciated
When i talk about "lunatics" i put myself in that same bracket, however if i bid for something and don't win it, for whatever reason, i never bad mouth the auction houses like some folk do
This is a hobby to be enjoyed imo and should be dealt with accordingly |

Some nice stuff there,
Always interesting to see items, not just of Manchester United but any club that are one off’s or rare |

Those coloured photos are great!
I think colour photography didn't really get started until the 1960s (but I am happy to stand corrected of course)
This is an early colour photo of Palace v Millwall at Selhurst Park (grass banks!) in front of a huge crowd in 1961. I don't know if it was a colour camera, or if it is a 'coloured' b&w photo to be honest.
If it is hand coloured in, then a lot of work went into the colouring!
As for the player specific collection - terrific and what a splendid thing to have such a 'set'! I have part of a collection that belonged to Palace goalkeeper of the 1910's Josh Johnson. He kept all sorts of really collectible stuff - a rare yearbook, lots of postcards, and lots of photos. The collection has been sold on a few times, and each time, it gets broken up a little more, but I am pleased with what I have, and I am also glad to say quite a good percentage has made it into some Palace history books, as the items are mostly unique (and in many cases quite insightful with the information they hold)
Thanks again for sharing! |

You should not be ashamed to wave YOUR willy about
Then folk can say who'swillyisthat??Surely it's not Brian Wilson's!!
As i say, the other forum is almost certainly a good place to take your bull and personal attacks as i assume there is a similar so called willy waving competition that i bet you don't comment on as you presumably have your lips surgically stuck to certain arses.
I would love to know exactly who you are, what you collect and what level you are at, that makes you so envious of others that have dedicated time, money and passion. And then share with the football world as i do for nowt what i have at both the Manchester United Museum and the National Football museum who both hold, free of charge some rarities that i own. |

Some of my stuff...I haven't got a flikr site, not a scanner, so some photos I have taken of a few interesting bits from my collection. Most are pretty rare, although to be honest there is probably a fairly limited market of collectors interested in buying the sort of stuff I like!
First, my favourite collecting passion, badges. Most of what I collect these days are 'match badges' - mass produced and unofficial, sold by dodgy street vendors! I do love them though, and I love that in my old age, I'll have thousands of them. The one below is probably worth as much as all of them put together, and it is very vintage. It's 1932/33 for the supporters club, so there are far greater rarities about if you ever get to track down the President or Committee version!
If I had to choose between this one badge, and 100 modern match badges, it would be a really tough call which to choose though. I do like the modern stuff a lot!

Next up, a rare old players pass from 1937
It's nicely made, and probably very few survive from any given year
One or two of the rules for the players make me chuckle at how things have changed -
- you could smoke on the way to an away game (at the discretion of the trainer!)
- but don't drive a motor car - if you have an accident in it, you won't get paid! |

Next up, staying on the 'paper' theme, a rare old fixture card from 1921. Palace would have been a Division 2 team playing at former ground 'The Nest' back then
(so one of the few good years - the vast majority of the clubs first 65 years were in the Southern League, Division 3(S) and Division 4!)
As you can see below, the owner very carefully filed in all the details of the games. What you don't realise from these photos is just how tiny that writing is, because the item really is very small!
I have never seen another the same in many, many years of collecting! |
