Yes, seen a few. I have one for when Palace were knocked out of the FA Cup by Swindon in 1910

"In Loving Memory of Crystal Palace
Who were knocked out of the English Cup in London
on January 15, 1910 by SWINDON TOWN

A Football Team in London said;

We'll beat the Boys in Red,

The Moonies cried "Don't be so bold, !

How do you feel now you are sold!"

Result - Swindon 3; C. Palace 1.

In those days people didn't telephone, or send emails (obviously) like now, but postcards were prolific, and giantkilling cup results must have been a novelty theme, just like seaside cartoon ones were???!!

I meant the aggressive nature by actually showing a punch and "knocking out", because the in memoriam cards that I have for United and others showed a more thoughtful interpretation even if they were still taking the P.

as you say all of that is obvious, but it is not that I was meaning. I was looking at the physical side of the caption as I have already said, taking the mickey but also showing respect which was part of the fun of them. Thanks

Ok Leslie, sorry misunderstood your original observation

Indeed they were not normally so aggressive!

While not overtly aggressive, it's of the same variety. From 1906-7 after Southern League new boys Palace knocked out league champions-elect Newcastle among others.
