I have obtained a programme issued by AVP Athletic. I have tried to find out about their history and what happened to them but with no real success at all. The programme is for a fixture against WickFC ( Littlehampton) in the Sussex County League Division 2 played on Wednesday 13th April 1966. The match was played at "The Jordans" London Road, Crawley. Anyone can tell me what happend to them ? According to The Football Club History Database they left the Sussex County League in 1988 but no reason given and doesn't say where they went if anywhere or if they just went down the pan. ?

Are you sure it's AVP Athletic and not APV Athletic? Can find a APV that won the Sussex Division 2 in 1956-57.

Would agree it appears to be APV Athletic.

"Based in Crawley they were the works team for Aluminium Plant and Vessel Co. and I believe they moved from Wandsworth"

Would seem then that AVP as a company existed until 2007 , so what happened to their Football Team from 1988 until then ??

Folded I guess. Their factory in Crawley was sold in 1989 it appears.

"1989 Expansion into bottling machinery; sold the printing machinery business PMC acquired with Baker Perkins, which needed capital investment, to Rockwell; sold the plate heat exchanger factory at Crawley"

A familier theme amongst works teams , we had a team in York called Rowntree Macintosh who i played for, we were regular league winners but to progress to the next level full on bar facilities were required and Rowntrees being a Quaker company would never allow alcohol on their premises , sadly Nestle sold the pitch to property developers when they took over
