Cheers for the responses gents, looking more for pre war magazines or articles if possible.
Seriously tempted by the Mr Bond photo, an inspirational character to say the very least.
As an aside, are there any and I hate to use the term, 'disabled' professional referees or assistant referees out there at the moment?

These 2 relate to the 1938 Cup Final, referee Jimmy Jewell being put through his paces at Stamford Bridge a few days before the big game





I have a white stick but I had to have the Labrador put down.

About thirty years ago I picked up a book called (I think) "The Football Referee" - published in around 1905 - must have been the first guide ever published on refereeing.

Sadly I let it go years ago, always wished I had kept hold of that one, never seen it since

Cheers for posting that up Leslie. I think I may have seen the cup final itinerary before, but love the 7pm - 1030pm 'free and easy' lol

Here's a programme for a referees match played at The Den in 1926 - not for sale I'm afraid.
This was quite a regular fixture each season.
