Terrific achievement by Stanley and fully deserved, they've been knocking on the door of League One for a while now. A real feel good story in a modern game starved of romance where money normally decides winners & titles.
Urgh ... milkkkkkk!

I find it intriguing that whilst technically correct in that it is the new club, which adopted the old clubs name etc they did of course play at the third tier level in 1958/9 season ( first season of the combined division 3 won by ahem Plymouth Argyle) as every article or comment tells us this is the first time there....well kind of!
That said I am delighted for John Coleman who deserves every plaudit coming his way given the budget he works on (adjusted for Maccy D spend or not)
Hopefully we won't have to play then next season but I for one won't mind if we do _________________ Currently disposing of my collection so please email any wants lists to [email protected].
Most Plymouth post 1959 but plenty of others including reserves, friendlies, Cup Finals Internationals and Club issues, handbooks and other sports. |

An incredible achievement by re-writing the history of the club (after their removal from the football league in 1962 and then folding completely) and now coming back to (probably) be division champions. The attendances are around an average of 2300 fans per home game and finances have to be a problem each and every week and so to build up a successful team is a mammoth task.
Congratulations to John Coleman and the guys behind the scenes (Directors, coaches, staff) plus, of course, the players who have revived the 'new' Stanley to a level that, their fans, must think they are dreaming. |

Congratulations to Accrington. The surprise team of the season.
After 14 attempts, the Stags have not beat them since they returned to the league. At least we may pick up a few extra points next season. |

I'll miss their lovely annual match badge.
Stanley were our first opponents on our return to the Football League in 2013, a wonderful day & occasion I'll never forget.
It felt incredibly apt to host Accy that day, the two clubs having much in common. Both were famous old Football League names who'd fallen on hard times, had been wound up and finished ... maybe forever ... except both had fans, thankfully, who refused to accept such a torrid fate.
Both stubbornly reformed, in the days when such practice was not commonplace as it is today, and subsequently spent decades fighting their way back through the minor leagues to return to their rightful place amongst the country's elite.
How could you not be pleased for them, eh?! _________________ NEWPORT COUNTY & GENERAL FOOTY BADGES:

As all above - well done Accrington Stanley.
I served in the Army with a lad from Accrington - his nickname was Accrington Brick - a lot longer than his real name! never could work that one out. _________________ Millwall league AWAYS wanted

John Coleman's achievement outshines any of his PL counterparts.
Is it true Accy bought a pub the year before last? _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/derby1884/sets/ |

Yes, the pub is called the crown, went in for a pint before Pompeys evening match there a couple of seasons ago, look forward to going again next season, hope Stanley change their match badge design, the one they have now is great but I've got 2 now so a little tweaking would be good.
By the way check out Michael Doyle's goal for Pompey that evening on YouTube |
