Thanks as ever. Matt

That's a definite NO Smile

I think it's more likely to be Motherwell and Joe Wark.

Could the top two photos be the same player...possibly Tony Clegg circa 85/86? It may need a Bradford City follower to confirm.

Doug Rougvie, what a brute he was.

It didn't matter if the ball hit him in the face.

Think Jim Gilmour could be the Ayr or St Mirren keeper from the 60s/70s

Good shout regarding Jim Gilmour. Could this grainy pic be him next to a young Gordon McQueen of St.Mirren?

Looking at those photos, wasn’t football a strange game back then. All that long hair ( who did they they think they were,, bloody Led Zeppelin or something! ) What’s with the distinct lack of tattoos? Modern day players are definitely a lot harder. If anyone meets Terry Hurlock , tell him it was a bloke known as littlewiggy who said that Laughing

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I remember being on the bob bank at Somerton back in the 80s against Brentford, and seeing Linden Jones and Terry Hurlock going full-pelt into a 50-50.

I swear there were grown-arsed men looking away, unable to watch the inevitable carnage. Like two trains in a head on smash.

Football was played by men back then of course, many a time Steve McMahon and Peter Reid would nearly decapitate each other, then get straight up, shake hands and swiftly get back on with it.

Wiggy, there are some good interviews with Terry Hurlock on YouTube . I think he upset some Rangers fans though. Apparently he thought Everton were coming in for him. When Rangers came calling , he remarked he had never f — ing heard of them. I have left out the swearing ! Terry names Mick Tate , Jimmy Case and Mick Hartford as three of the hardest he played against.

Hurlock had some great "battles" with Andy Gray at Palace.

But he can consider himself lucky he didn't play against John McCormick at Palace. The "craggy Scot" would have had him for breakfast.
