Rochdale’s best performance of the season in parts, replay could be fun the Dale pitch isn’t at it’s best more swamp than football pitch. Tottenham/Newport will be hoping for a Millwall win neither will want to play on Dale’s pitch.

If and I mean if we get past Newport. i know this is the New Spurs but we are still capable of doing an Old Spurs then I'd love to face Rochdale.

A team I don't think we have faced before Very Happy

Spotland's a wild and windy place!
I took this in 1981 on a Monday afternoon prior to being one of about 15 people who attended their reserves' home game with Bacup Borough.

Are Harry Kane & Co up to the task?

>> Spotland's a wild and windy place!

Just how I like my women Shocked

Personally this brings back the memories of when I was younger. Watching the teams fro the lower leagues battle it out with the Div 1 'Big Boys'. Back then there weren't any pampered stars they had to get on with it and mix it up on a pitch that at best had two blades of grass.

Are Kane and Co up to it - I think so but I seriously think Premier League teams need more away games like this.

Great pic! That's how Spotland looked when I went there in 1987.

Is that the outside wall of the clubhouse bar?

I know our grounds were dilapidated death traps back then, but I hate how they look these days. All the character has been shorn away.

Watched the highlights last night from the Millwall reply

The Spotlands pitch looks like a proper FA Cup pitch. Hat's off to the groundsmen for giving it a reto look

I could only watch the first half hour but thought Newport had the right idea - go for it and have no regrets.

And - If Wanyama hadn't committed the foul to earn his yellow card, chances are they'd have taken the lead.

Result as expected and I'm pleased we didn't get a tanking. Wasn't much in it until the oggie really, but the lads can hold their heads high. We refused to lie down so that was pleasing.

I thought most of the match was competitive. Was pleased Spurs missed a few great goalscoring chances in the last 20 mins, as it kept the final score very respectable Smile

Just gotta hunt the tat for it now wiggy!

Obviously I wanted us to win, but probably for the first time ever, didn't want us to score loads.
Newport had earned the right to leave this tie with their heads held high. Their performance in the first game was outstanding and we were lucky that day to dig ourselves out of a proper mess.

This season's FA Cup has captured my attention like none in the last twenty years or so.
There have been some great David v Goliath ties, some real upsets and also some huge games. The draws for each round have all had something to excite the fans.

That said, the draw for the 5th Round was a bit flat, unless one of the smaller clubs can defy the odds again (please not Rochdale!), but to me it looks like normal service will be resumed as the draw has been kind to the big sides and the QF should see the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Spurs in there, but both Sheffield clubs and Coventry will have a real chance of joining them too.

Hopefully this season's FA Cup still has at least one more surprise for us.

Thanks for the generous comments guys. To be fair, the quick two-goal burst meant Spurs never really had to get out of first gear after that, thankfully.

Hopefully they'll go on to win it now, so that County appear on one of those "Road to the FAC" badges!!!

Very Happy

It was a great effort by County and no shame at all in losing 2-0 to Prem giants in a replay.

Now the hard bit is getting back to the basics of League Two football as a promotion challenge must be within your grasp.

Good luck with that and well done County who have risen like a phoenix.

Easy

I'll just add my bit:
Well done to Newport - great effort all round!

Well played Rochdale - your groundsmen did a fantastic job to get the game on (I wish that they hadn't! lol). Your players were certainly up for it again and ours sounded as if they weren't (listened to it on ifollow).

Good luck against Spurs - nothing against Spurs apart from the 6-0 drubbing they gave us last season! The pitch will be a great leveller and I suspect that the event will be great for the club whatever happens - exactly what the FAC is all about.

Spurs didn't like our bobbly pitch with its duel markings, so goodness knows what they'll make of Dale's!

It's reminiscent of the ploughed field we played on last season before the summer re-lay.

Very Happy

That's the magic of the cup right there.

I remember seeing Halifax's players covered head-to-toe in mud, drinking champers out of the boot that scored the winning goal against Man City on the news, when I was a 12-year old lad. It was 1980 I think.

My mam and sisters were appalled, saying how gross & disgusting it was.

I however thought it was one of the greatest things I'd ever seen! lol

Laughing

Reminds me of my playing days at Sunday League level.
As a newly formed team we won our first match in the league and the scorer of that historic first goal drank lager out of his muddy boot when we got back to the pub that we played out of.
We were all impressed (probably half pissed too), but the landlady threatened him with a ban if he repeated his celebrations Laughing

I see the Spurs manager has taken one look at the Rochdale pitch and decided that all that mud is far too levelling.

Call that mud? He obviously never saw the Baseball Ground.

Not sure how true this is, but I heard that Rochdale are opening up Spotlands to some local children for a sand castle building competition!
