And so another football legend departs us.

That's what Jimmy Armfield was, after a club record number of appearances for Blackpool, 40-odd England caps and a place in the 1966 WC squad, and a very long and distinguished career in the commentary box as analyst. Over 60 years in football and truly loved by everyone, a gent and a great family man by all accounts.

A week after big Cyrille: this is one sad month.

RIP Jim.

Indeed sad, Jimmy came along in the era when we had a great list of outstanding right full backs like Jeff Hall,Don Howe,George Cohen--without that competition he would have won many other caps.
Blackpool football club and followers will have many kind thoughts about Jimmy who had a great knowledge of the game and gave sound opinions about matches and players. RIP Jimmy.

I can only echo Pete and Topbid's previous words.

Another legend leaves the pitch for the final time.

RIP Jimmy

True football legend. Let's hope his passing also merits a minutes applause up and down the country.

Jimmy Armfield was a fabulous attacking full-back. In this respect, he was well ahead of his time.He would not have looked out of place in one of the great Brazilian sides of the 1950s early 60s era. When he became a broadcaster ,can't really think of anyone else who was better. His analysis of the game was second to none .A truly outstanding football man.
