As I have 5 minutes I can give an update on the situation.
Due to the interest, I have spoken with my family and explained what they could be worth.
We, as a family have almost agreed to sell to a private collector that has made contact on the forum via a friend, both the forum member and the buyer wish not to be named due to how volatile the forum can be (Not my words) and I assume the privacy of spending a large amount of money.
I can confirm my family are extremely grateful for the advice we have received on here. Some more relevant than others. Unfortunately, it does appear that some were trying to gain a bargain of a complete novice, but grateful for the honest people that have provided accurate information.
I won't give the exact number but can assure those that have advised to exercise caution before selling that we are extremely happy with the price. We have easily made 5 figures.
The gentleman is meeting with my family this side of Christmas to complete the sale.
Thank you.
Jacob. |

Hi,
I am new to the world of football programmes and forums in general, but must apologise if I have broken the rules?
I didn't realise there was a time limit on when I had to reply, my apologies as I previously said I am new to all this.
I assume you're in charge Tynie Topics? Please accept my humble apologies. If there is a set of guidelines I should follow then please let me know and I will try and take time to read them.
I will try and reply quicker in the future, although this time of year is extremely busy for me as I work in the restaurant trade.
Once again Sorry
Jacob. |

Am I missing something?
What is so funny? I have apologised for not replying quickly enough and assumed by your initial comment you must be in charge.
You had not contacted me in the private message posts about the programmes so thought I was being told off by the owner/boss. |

To Tynie Topics,
I don't know what I have done wrong to upset you directly but my name is Jacob, not Ray.
My apologies once again for not complying with forum rules.
I didn't realise football programme collecting was even a thing but have learnt there are some characters involved. |

I'm getting close to the point where I'll be too scared to offer anybody I don't already know advice on here, I just don't know what is and isn't real anymore.

Agreed Wiggy, I even went to the trouble of making a phone call before just assuming an up to date value for these. That said, and call me naïve, but Beeston Boy's post must be legitimate as only a complete c**t would spin such a yarn!
Before I'm banned the word I didn't spell out was 'clot' _________________ For a daily feed of football nostalgia please click on the link to view my Twitter page on your PC - https://twitter.com/MemorabiliaMal |

Yes, this is all getting very surreal and only today at the barber's (surreal in itself given my mirror top) we were discussing conspiracy theories, moon landings etc and this thread almost came up, except my Kosovan refugee hair-dresser would probably think I'm as short of marbles as I am of follicles subscribing to a website that deals with football memorabilia, so I didn't mention it.
I reckon our ex backward subscriber 99elbert must be peeing himself if and when he glances at his old stamping ground, with every new poster being deemed an imposter, irrespective of how genuine it all may seem.

Basically a lot of members wanted them on the cheap and he got a better deal elsewhere. |

@BeestonBoy, you haven't broken any rules. A lot of the people on here have experienced people saying they have certain treasures... etc and so they are waiting for you to prove that you are geniune and actually have these Leeds programmes from the 1930s. Some have also been scammed in the past so they may be even more cynical than others.
The other thing is your items would likely count as very rare and interesting so naturally everyone is quite keen to simply see and marvel at these programmes. It's great you've got a buyer for these at a satisfactory price and I'm sure we're all happy for your family in this regard, but of course people here will only be sure you were for real if you post some photos of the programmes in question.
Would you be happy to do that for the people on here, especially given that you and your family now seem to have benefited from the existence of this forum? |

Would be a good story if true, however the reality was that most (barring I think one 'see PMs') gave correct and sound advice, to use a specialist auctioneer with some standing in the hobby.
And two such respected auctioneers bothered to spend some time advising of their services.
If the thread was a wind up, then I'd like to think that they would have had a bit more imagination and said they were Leeds City programmes against the likes of Woolwich Arsenal and Newton Heath
In the end the thread starter seems to have gone against all sane advice (who knew) and done a private deal! You couldn't make it up! Lets hope if real, the private offer wasn't our friend Mr Lane.
Can't believe I bothered to type all that - good fishing if it is you Ray. |

Ray and Barry were good characters on here although having a go at new members asking for advice wasn't pleasant, I liked both of them but I wouldn't like them winding up collectors in my Rangers groups, I think a forum as big as this is more able to facilitate such characters and lets face it, if you get people who can't handle a wind up, maybe football forums are not for them.
Constant trolling is bad but they weren't about that as far as I could see. If Ray and Barry are trolling under other names then that is bad because you can't trust posts from anyone apart from long standing members. |

Morning All,
I am confused by some of the posts on here but looks like I have been mistaken for other people.
A lot of people have asked for photos of the programmes, I will speak with the buyer and seek their approval, as although they are still in my possession a sale has been agreed.
Although I am not obliged to say who the buyer is, it is not the guy that has been mentioned in the comments, it is not Andy Lane.
Just to confirm my family and I are very happy with the fee that we have agreed. I know that some were concerned but can assure you that the figure offered was in line with the upper end of valuations on here.
Hopefully, I can post some photos soon.
Thank you.
Jacob. |
