Noticed this beauty on eBay last night whilst having an idle browse, should realise a nice price surely ...

(wish I had the wedge to buy him, sadly it'll be well out of my reach)

Another early "match badge" on eBay, and another beauty, this time it's Swindon v Newcastle from 1910 ...

He also had a similar badge from the 1901 F A Cup final, which I managed to get.
These badges were worn by F A Officials and Councillors, they always had the date on them and in most cases the colours of the badge matched the two competing teams.

They're wonderful items, you're very lucky to own one or two of those Sydenham.

Please post some pics up if you have any so we can admire it / them mate.

I was amazed that the one I posted a link to only went for £155 - seems utterly obscene really when you see fairly modern Golly badges going for more than that.

That Swindon (v Newcastle) cup-semi badge from 1910 I posted below it a day or so ago was played at Spurs, so that might appeal to their collectors too.
Another gorgeous badge.

Hi Littlewiggy

Here`s a pic of the 1901 Councillors badge, I used to own a few of these from different seasons but have now started to sell off a lot of my collection, I am now just concentrating on the Cup Final from 1901, I am getting involved with Tottenham`s new museum, and will probably lend my 1901 stuff to them. The England v Scotland badge went really cheaply, a few years ago these badges were selling for between 3/4 hundred pound each.

Wow, what a lovely item!!

I think I prefer that one to the Eng / Scot badge.
Stunning mate.
That'll grace the museum for sure, thanks for sharing.

Thumbs Up

No problem, I agree, the design is a little bit boring, but the most important thing is that it was probably on someone`s lapel when the match took place in front of 114 thousand spectators at the Crystal Palace and probably was worn to the replay at Burnden Park a week later as well.

I love the simplicity of it, that intricately woven "FA" is fabulous.

Worth a lot more than the other one too I shouldn't doubt, as club stuff is always more desirable than International isn't it, and club stuff doesn't come any better than a surviving committee / directors' badge from the final when a non league team won the FA Cup for the only time.

Wonderful piece of history mate.

Now just wondering if there are any stewards badges from the 1901 final out there, I do have one from the 1903 Final, so stewards must have worn badges in this final as well. I have never seen one and probably never will.
My holy grail now from this final are the In Memoriam cards that were produced, probably in quite large numbers but I can`t get hold of one, if someone does have one please name your price.

I don't recall seeing one for 1901, but there are a couple of Steward Badge collectors on here, they might be able to possibly advise.
Might be an idea to start a new thread about it to get it noticed buddy?

There doesn't seem to be a definitive list of Steward Badges issued, there are several pics of badges on this thread, but difficult to see which years they are ...
