What happened to the Celtic collectors club online ??
I'm sure I had a disc years ago that listed all the programmes issued. I can't remember the guy( John, maybe?? ) who set it up and started the online club I think.
I have a postponed Celtic v Motherwell April 47 which was down as a non issue. Had a great chat with the man. Anyone know him ?

His name is Joe G - I don't want to post his full name on the forum.

No idea what happened to the site but it was a fantastic site. I too have the CD somewhere.

Had to stop due to other collectors. Unfortunally he has stopped totally. He was a good guy and knew all friendlies. Was easy to collect minor Celtic programmes as he knew where they would be playing.

Can you explain this that you have written

"Had to stop due to other collectors" sounds a little sinister?

Joe G who ran the Celtic Collectors Club website was always ready to share his vast and extensive knowledge.
It was a real loss when he stopped the site.
Also his CD roms were invaluable with regard to which CFC programmes had been issued over the years.
I have no idea why he stopped, but it must have been quite time consuming I imagine.
The other Celtic programme guide Celtic Programmes Online also went off air about two years ago, again without prior warning or explanation.

On the Rangers front, there was a really good website called, I think, Rangers History (or similar) which had lots of good scans and information, and also suddenly vanished.

I regularly travel north to watch Rangers but stumbled across the Celtic Collectors page years ago and was amazed. The quality of that website, the all encompassing nature of it as well as the presentation meant that I would say that it was, by far, the best football memorabilia website that I have ever come across. Also Joe G. was very helpful on the couple of occasions that I contacted him and was happy to get him a Villa v Celtic Nextgen ticket (if memory serves me right).

A real sad loss as, for a collector of any persuasion, that website is something that we'd all like to be able to replicate in terms of its' appeal I'd suggest.

Do we know why it went and if there's any prospect of it coming back?

Like you said Ron, a superb site.

I know he stopped updating for a wee while before it disappeared, I tried to contact him about a small correction as well, i'm sure he would have changed it if he had been using it as well. I used it for reference quite a few times and through his site I found out that my Uefa Final in Seville was a reprint.

Hi Alex,

Another healthy four figures for the bank (or better known as the wife)!.

Didn't bother selling in January concentrated more in bidding side missed a few but overall happy with outcome.

Hope to have some more very rare items in 10 March 2017 Auction.

Now secured Hannover96 programme so this will be one of them.

Have you stopped collecting altogether?.

Regards,

John.
