A post-war legend of the game, over 200 league goals for Notts Co, Sheffield Weds, Aston Villa, and Hull City where he retired in 1961. He also appeared 6 times (3 goals) for England. An interesting article and some great photos of him on the BBC Sport website today.

This photo will be in my forthcoming site update on Friday - Notts Co, Div III South Champions 1949/50. I should think they were with Sewell and Tommy Lawton in their line-up. Those two are seated either side of Mr Barnes, the County chairman.
