Forgive me. I assume this has already been covered so if it has could someone link me to it but....

For those pre season games where one programme covers all friendlies... do you buy one for each friendly?

Torquay recently published one programme to cover all three home friendlies. Then, because there was a bit of a gap between the 1st and 2nd, they issued a slightly changed one for the other two, which could have been easily missed as the cover was identical apart from a 1-1 added to the first game.

I don't see why you would buy a copy for each game - unless in this case, where there is a difference in the issue sold at subsequent games.

If there's no difference, it's wasteful to buy a copy for each game.

I am wasteful then. I have to admit that I am one of those sad people who buy two programmes if it covers two games.

if I were the Torquay editor I would have done 3 identical programmes, but each would have a separate insert (like the good old days of postponed programmes, played months later). You would need to buy 3 then!

Barnsley FC came unstuck with printing a joint issue for the home friendly games against Everton & Hull. By the time the Hull game came around Steve Bruce had left the club so Barnsley issued a totally separate programme.

So Barnsley & Hull collectors have 2 totally different programmes for this match.

Is it just me wondering how you can produce three identical programmes?

Returning to the main point, if I was a one club collector I would want one for each game, after all it is the one programme which you would buy if you went to all 3 matches. I collect on several fronts and sometimes rarely a programme falls in 2 categories. When it does I want 2 copies, one for each sub collection. For example:- Scunthorpe v Shrewsbury 19/8/50 first League game for both clubs. Barnet v Northampton 27/4/13 last Home in League and last game at Underhill. Similarly if there are variations in any issue as a completist I would want all of them.
Still if you are happy with one that's fine too as we all have our collecting parameters, it's what makes everyones' collections unique!

If one programme covers 3 games, surely you only need one programme. Nod

I'm unsure to be honest. I bought two this season, but only one last season. Why can't we just do one issue per game.

This happened with England Ladies back in 2007. They played three home friendlies in the space of 7 days and issue a 16 page programme for each game - all identical except for the back cover which had the different line-ups for each game. I therefore had to buy all three issues.
