Arsenal 3 Bolton Wanderers 0 (John Radford hat-trick)
FA Cup 4th Round Replay
Att. 47,050
Nice ticket with his one - A guest ticket dated for an Arsenal home cup tie on the 18th February but if drawn away and a replay is needed then the ticket would be valid for the replay instead!

Front cover shows Dave Swindlehurst and Jerry Murphy celebrating - but Dave was sold in this very month, to Derby Co, after 276 games (81 goals) for Palace. Below, scorer Ian Walsh.

70 years ago today.
Good day at the office for the Rams' reserves.
Whoever bought this programme at the match kindly noted the scorers.
Derby 7 (Walker, Hiatt 2, Brinton, Shearer 3)
Blackpool 2 (Hobson, Finan)
Blackpool's lineup was as per the programme - Derby's had 5 changes from that printed.
4 page issue. Not much to read but interesting to read the opponents for our "A" team that season.......whatever happened to the clubs from Butterley, Brinston and Ollerton?

Only mr nutfield and a guess attended?!
Johnny Brooks, before my time at GP but is fondly remembered by those who did see him. Still alive too I believe?
Once again, some nice issues posted on here, maybe when I sort out scanning more I can stick some bees stuff up too!! _________________ Not Forgotten; Allwright, Greechan, Hagan, Kennedy, Littler, Purver, Robotham, Saunders, Shields |

United Counties League
Kettering Town v Bletchley Town
Single sheet printed on one side only featuring the defunct Bletchley Town
24th February 1981
FA Youth Cup 5th Round
Leeds United 1 Tottenham Hotspur 3
Again, single sheet printed on one side only. A few players involved who went on to have half decent careers including David Seaman in goal for Leeds

60 years ago (1955/6 season) and a 1st Division fixture between Charlton Athletic and Blackpool.
The programme is 8 pages with plenty to read and the adverts mainly confined to the centre pages if you ignore the large one on the front.
Blackpool won 2-1 with both goals coming from Ernie Taylor, one of them a penalty.
The attendance was 30,234.

This day in 1976.
I remember this one very well as it was the first programme I bought from Peter Holtom Programmes.
up till then, I tended to write to clubs for programmes but his "current season" list arrived and made life a lot easier for this fledgling collector.
I think he's still trading?

60 years ago, 25th February 1956
London Senior Cup 3rd Round
Corinthian Casuals v Hayes
4 pager carrying just the one advert plus club notes & line-ups
England cricketers Doug Insole and Micky Stewart were both playing for Casuals at the time, fitting that they played at the Oval. Stewart actually turned professional with Charlton. Both of their Wiki's are worth a quick read, Insole's has an amusing story re Geoff Boycott that I'd somehow never heard before. It would appear that both are still with us, I had thought that Insole had passed away so apologies to him!
3 pics as I like the biscuit advert....

Not a "this day" but one for Mel seeing as how he liked the biscuit advert
If my scanner was working I would have shown you the big ad on the back page!

That's a 'CRACKER' Steve Thank you
Could perhaps start a new thread on programmes with a biscuit on the cover, I'll kick it off with this old favourite again....

Sorry Mr Nutfield sadly did not attend this game as he was doing his homework! Regret I do not have the attendance for this match. Keep up the good work Peter |

Excellent
Non-biscuit issues......
50 years ago - 26th February 1966
Sheffield Utd 1 Leeds United 1 (Bell) - Div 1
Att. 35,682
Sheff U had the Wagstaff brothers Tony & Barry in their line-up along with 20 year olds Alan Birchenall & Mick Jones, Jones would of course see the light the following year and joined Leeds, the rest is history!
The programme contains a first season Soccer Review
45 years ago - 26th February 1971
Coventry City 0 Leeds United 1 (Lorimer) - Div 1
Att. 20,686
Only included this due to my liking for Coventry programmes and the fact that they unusually include an image of the opposition on the cover
40 years ago - 26th February 1976
Hastings United 3 Crawley Town 1
Bit of a mouthful this one - Sussex Floodlight Cup 1st Round 2nd Replay! Shame it's a little creased

not even a hint of a biscuit here, sadly........in fact, if I were either of the players involved, I'd be a wee bit miffed that all I got for my testimonial match was a single sheet issue.
ps - I do have some terrific old biscuit adverts...perhaps we should start a new thread? Old adverts are the best bit of many a pre-1970 programme.

Coincidentally, I was pottering about on YouTube the other night and was watching a few clips of Hastings United from this season.
I'll say this for them - their crowds of 350 or so probably make more noise than many a Premier League club's fans do!
And a piece of absolutely useless trivia - Hastings was where the "Journey To the Unknown" episode "The Last Visitor" was filmed in 1969 - and there is a (very) brief glimpse of their ground in that. But blink and you'll miss it. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/derby1884/sets/ |

Good trivia there Steve. Another bit of trivia concerning that programme - After tweeting it someone replied that it was Kevin Barry on the cover, someone responded asking if that was Gareth's Dad? Turns out that it is Gareth Barry's Uncle who went on to sign for Chelsea for £2k before moving on to Margate before returning to Hastings. Sadly passed young at just 61 in 2011. Now you know!!

Belgium v Iraq
More of an itinerary by the looks of things as there are no line-ups included. I have included the notes from page one which are a superb insight into army football in the early 60's and make a fascinating read, enjoy!
