6 page gatefold programme. Razor blade adverts on front and back. Nice, picturesque ad for Hope and Anchor Breweries' "Jubilee Stout" on the inside. Does anyone drink stout these days?

They certainly do derby. Laughing

Stout is just another name for a strong dark ale.

Guinness is a stout.

Back in the early 50s the head brewer at the Hope and Anchor Brewery took Jubilee Stout to Canada as they were keen to get into the North American Market. By agreement, in return, the brewery started brewing and supplying something called Carling Black Label.

The original Anchor Brewery (in the white shape) located a stone throw away from the Pavilion at Bramall Lane.

It was destroyed after being bombed by the Luftwaffe.

They then moved to Claywheels Lane in the vicinity of our unwashed neighbours Smile

First pint I ever bought (at the age of 15, tut tut) was a "black and tan".

Half Sweetheart stout, half McEwans Export.

Pretty sure if I walked into a pub now and asked for that, I'd get a blank look!

A few minutes early for January 5th, but hey...

05/01/80 First Tower (Jersey) 2-1 Cowes, Hampshire Senior Cup.

One of the provisos for Jersey sides entering the HSC was that if they got a home draw, they paid the travel expenses (in this case a flight from Hurn Airport, I think) for the visiting team and officials, so definitely a better jolly for our boys than a wet Tuesday night at Fareham.

That said, we still got beat, and a year later we went back again, only to lose 3-0...

1974 and a visit to Glebe Park for a Scottish Cup tie which Brechin won 5-1. The Angus side were regular issuers with their four page programmes following a standard format that was professionally printed and cost just 2d, 4d less than Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire were charging seven years previously.

87 years ago (1928/9 season) and a 2nd Division fixture between Chelsea and Blackpool.

Chelsea were lying 3rd in the table with just 3 defeats but Blackpool came away with a superb 3-2 victory.

Neal, Tremelling and Hampson were the Blackpool scorers.

The programme was the standard 8 page issue.
