68 years ago (1947/8 season) and a 1st Division fixture between Blackpool and Everton.
Blackpool won 5-0 this being their best win over Everton.
Goals came from McIntosh and 2 apiece from Dicks and Mortensen.
A standard 8 page programme was issued.

One name stands out from that Albion Rovers line-up
Tom Sermanni who went on to have a successful managerial career in Australia and also a spell managing Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Currently managing in the USA. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

I'm loving these stencilled hand drawn programmes they are unique. |

Tom Sermanni played a handful of games for Blackpool in 78/9 season.
I always rated him but it didn't quite come off for him at Blackpool.
Perhaps when they signed him they were hoping for another Tony Green who they also signed from Albion Rovers. |

Me too, they remind me of the sort of things I knocked up when I was in a Subbuteo League when I was about 12. With every respect to the guys at Stenhousemiur, Cowdenbeath etc who wouldn't have had much in the way of equipment or funding. But they were a true labour of love. Keep them coming, Maidonian, please. |

I've only scanned the first eight seasons of my Stenhousemuir home/away collection and looking through them, the only stencilled ones I can find are ours, East Stirling's, and the aforementioned Cowdenbeath one. I'd have to go out of date sequence to show them but here's an East Stirling programme from 1967/68 season:

I personally really like them. they are different to the glossy mass produced programmes and look as though they have been a real labour of love from fans of a club that can't afford the printers cost.
Incidentally Maidonian do you know if the aforementioned clubs were going through hard times when these were produced? Or was it just cost cutting on something they didn't see as important? |

At this time it just seemed that it wasn't the norm for a fair number of Scottish sides to produce programmes on a regular basis. Many were very erratic issuers, some never produced for midweek/holiday fixtures and Stenhousemuir only began because East Stirlingshire (their local rivals) had.
I suspect there might have also been some who refused to pay 6d at the time for something they considered extremely basic. |
