Today 1st September 118 years ago 1897......I'm cheating its a reprint Crying or Very sad

1989 reprint of the first official United programme.

United won 2-1 against Derby County.

2nd September. 15 years ago Today 2000.

The world's oldest club were living a nomadic existence at this time, here they were taking on Rossendale United in the FA Cup preliminary Round at the oldest professional football stadium in the world.

Saturday 2nd September 1967

Preston North End 0 Crystal Palace 0

To match the programme in its dullness, Palace had left out centre forward Tommy White and included in his place Terry Long, a right back or defensive wing half. A gate of 13,313 must have loved every minute.

A Yorkshire League programme from 4th September 1965 BARTON TOWN v HALLAM.

Barton Town were regular issuers in the 60s and 70s. My interest in them is from their days in the old Yorkshire League. This was their second season having finished runners up in Division 2 the previous season. I am particularly looking for any matches they played in the FA Cup, Trophy and Vase during their Yorkshire League days if anyone has any for sale...

The programme from this game was a standard 8 pages with "Town Talk", team line ups in the centre pages, and 1st team / reserves fixture list for the season.

5th September 1959

League Division 4

Walsall 2 Crystal Palace 0

Att: 11,593

One of those pocket-sized jobs so popular back then. As far as I know Palace started that trend in the 1957/8 season - unless you guys know any different.

I love this programme as I'm fairly certain it was the first non-Palace programme I ever got hold of.

6th September 43 years ago 1972 Sheffield United travel to Workington in the league Cup and win 1-0. United have a 100% success rate at Derwent Park as they've only been once.

One of the harder-to-find aways from Northampton's only top flight season.
