I clocked the final price on saleroom and wondered what was in the lot, as it wasn't well described on the 'net.

Thanks - seems like a treasure trove for a midlands collector. Is 5.5k + sundries fair, too much or a bargain, do you think?

Yes, this was a superb collection, many of the programmes were in pristine condition they were incredible, and more like 150 rather than 100 in the folder,
the Chesterfield v Man Utd 1944/5 programme, I believe was the semi final of the war cup although it didn't say in the programme, this programme had the score written on the top of the front cover but was still in very good condition.
At least six members of this forum were bidding against each other at the auction, I imagine we will see the programmes for sale very shortly but they won't be cheap.
once again this auction house had no idea of the true value

for the cost of the collection if the person who won it is a collector and there are items they want to keep cost is not a problem. but for someone who bought to sell and make a profit it will be very interesting there are some very nice items in there but a good number of these the seller will do well to get £40 each. but a very nice collection to buy and a good result for the seller who put them into auction

...the same site that he was berating someone for not putting a price against programmes because he was looking for offers. These are offered at over £60 each. No change there then....

I hope he pays tax on any profits Laughing
To be honest , that lot didn't excite me much . Mostly midland teams which are ten a penny really. I'm not good at maths but doesn't look like much of a bargain to me.

Wow, quite a list of wartime stuff there, but did it go for too much to sell?!

The list above is what the auction house emailed me, if there were extras in the lot, only those present in the room would know. Barry originally claimed on Facebook that he was the underbidder, but today on Facebook he listed many from the list at offers over £60, he also said that he had bought the lot at the auction, so its sounds as though he is telling porkies.........

That Facebook post offering the programmes for sale seems to have now disappeared. This was also mentioned on the page;

"Fieldings Auctioneers - some prick tried to hide all the rare ones inside some modern programmes - would really love it if they got caught on camera because i hear about this shit going on all the time at auctions and it's always the same names that come up so let's hope justice will be done!!!"
