I would imagine most of us sort our collections into date/season order but I came across another collector who sorts alphabetically by opponents.

Anyone else sort their collection by other means?

Just by season here, usually home and aways separate and in size order so stuff don't go out of shape.

Palace home - by season.

Palace away - alphabetically by club and then in date order.

Other non-Palace programmes - alphabetically by club and then in date order.

Separate sections for non-league, big match, internationals, etc.

All in season order and also in their own Home or Away file. Cool

Any other programmes are in files in no particular order. Smile

Can I ask why you split the homes and always?

Is it to do with the different sizes?

I don't sort it into any order. As I don't collect sets anymore I just stuff the lot into boxes . Programmes, tickets , photos , the lot. I find this makes it more enjoyable shifting through them one rainy boring Sunday... After a lifetime of order, cataloguing , chasing final items to complete a season , I find my current laziness far more fun and stress free.

For my non-league one-per-club I use an Excel spreadsheet with all the relevant info that I can then sort at will, filter, turn into a pivot table etc.

The default setting, though, is home club A to Z

Mine are all in box files. For Sunderland, up to 1990, they are filed season by season in date order. From 1990 onwards, due to the increased size, the seasons are split further into homes and aways.

Other clubs are in alphabetical order, with each club ordered by date, and separate files for League clubs, ex league clubs, non league games, and non-league v league in FA Cup.

Scotland homes/aways/B/U23/U21 all in binders/pockets on shelves and all mixed in together in date order 1930-2015, about 25 binders.

Hearts v Hibs all in date order, older stuff in programme binders (mixed in with Edinburgh Select games and reserves), newer stuff in plastic boxes. Same with Cup Finals/Semi Finals.

Hearts European in a plastic storage box and in date order.

Scottish Juniors in plastic storage box mostly in date order, ish.

A few other bits and pieces in binders and boxes.

Your display cabinets always impress me when I visit your place.

I also like the way you can find an individual item to view within seconds.

No rummaging about in boxes for you. (that came across all wrong!)Shake Laughing

I keep homes and aways seperate so I know what I have! Reserves are in each display file too. Easier for me to sort and get out any I need for research or to scan for Brentford's home programme publication.

I have league matches (home and away) in chronological order in each season's binder.

I have FA Cup runs home and away seperate (but only good or famous runs)

I have friendlies in seperate binders.

I do this for both 1.Manchester City (my club) and 2.Manchester United (my other club in the same vicinity)

I do this because where's there's one there's always two Wave

Bit of both.

Some of the photos are years old showing programmes, I change it all around continually for something to do and also because I need to see a fresh image every so often but I do not re-take images of the programmes as nowadays as I no longer keep them in the cabinets I reserve that space for non paper items.
