Struggling Already. Tough start July.

Any sport remember, doesn't have to be football.

Old or new doesn't matter.

Valuable, worthless or just sentimental.

Might be delving through my golf programmes before long: Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Feel free to add any little stories about your item.

So here goes for our 2nd attempt on a full calender of sporting programmes, teamsheets, scorecards even menu's

47 years ago today:

1st July 1968

Three day game between Yorkshire and the touring Australians in 1968 at Bramall Lane.

There's a pub/hotel at Grindleford in Derbyshire (Maynard Arms) where the Australians used to stop. All the touring parties pictures are still up in one of the lounges, well they were about 10 years ago.

The game finished 1 day early on the 1st July. Yorkshire winning by an innings and 69 runs. Ray Illingworth outscoring every Aussie batsman and taking eight wickets. Howzat for starters Confused

Finally back from Beverley racecourse this weekend and not feeling too well Laughing

Time to catch up.

Its Early July so its Youth Tournament time:

10 years ago July 4th 2005

United U16s begin a successful trip to Derry where they eventually beat Donegal 4-0 in the Final to lift the Foyle Cup. Smile

3 years ago, July 5th 2012.

Must admit bit limited on this one, took it from Macca's collection, a bulky little number from some village team in Wales, runners up of the Welsh Cup, participating in the 1st Rd of the Europa League against Mypa47 of Finland.

2 years ago, July 6th.

A trip to bonnie Scotland and Cowdenbeath to be precise with the gruesome twosome. The Blue Brazil were hoping for a bumper crowd with Sheffield United in town with new manager, former Rangers favourite David Weir at the helm.

474 turned up including us three. On the bright side I managed to get an hours kip laid in the glorious sunshine.

Brilliant weekend with the young un's

Macca, seconds before being told to get off the wall by security at Central Park, in case it fell down Confused

10 years ago today. July 9th, 2005

The Mel Rees Memorial Tournament held at the Academy.

Mel only played 9 times for us, but he is remembered with great effection for his fantastic performances and bravery.

He cruelly lost his life to cancer in 1993 at the age of 26.

We were camping in Derbyshire, and had to make the agonizing decision whether to go around on the annual 10 mile yomp visiting every pub we could, or leave and visit field mill.

The walk in the countryside and several ales won, which is more than United managed by losing 1-0.
