I know this subject has come up before but I came across this link today. For a respected journalist like Clive Batty to get sucked in is incredible.

He will need to charge those prices to fund his new website Laughing
In all seriousness I wonder how many actually sell?
To be fair there are some rare programmes if you have been fortunate enough to win the lottery or to work in the city.

Quite a few run of the mill programmes going for over £100,

I wonder what he pays for them......

I'm happy to supply some at £50 each....

What is worrying is that a respected journalist like Clive Batty is praising and recommending the site to unsuspecting visitors.

Interesting the autographed cup final team sheet doesn't include Clive Goodyear who played and gave away the Penalty Aldridge missed

http://www.collectsoccer.com/england-emile-heskey-card.html

£8 for a Match Attax base card. Can buy as many as he wants from me at 10p each or even go to Topps and pay I think 22p direct from them.

Disgraceful.

Some ridiculous prices on there.

Just checked the Blackpool items and he has the Blackpool v Chelsea 96/7 League Cup programme listed as rare and selling for £75.

I used to have loads of these and probably still have some tucked away somewhere.

Although all his Chelsea prices are even more inflated than most other clubs, except Manchester United of course, where he is asking £75 for the 81/2 Blackpool v Manchester United friendly. This is worth no more than a couple of quid at best.

What you two bob fish and chip merchants don't understand is this dealer provides a certificate of authenticity with every item. No other dealer offers this service . I would gladly pay 100 times what a programme is worth just for that certificate.
When the city boys have their friends round for a glass or two, they don't say here is a programme I picked up from Bob and Elvis for £2.99 post free. How embarrassing would that be ? The say here is a programme I picked up from a discerning dealer that cost me £250. And here is the certificate of authenticity to prove that it's real ....

It would be shameful to be honest.

You really believe that 1) there's a "city boy" market for 96-97 League Cup game programmes; and/or 2) "city boys" will happily overpay for such dross?

Nah, he's selling to regular, gullible, vulnerable folks who most likely can't afford to be preyed upon like this.

he's a complete rip off merchant but is there a difference in offering a £2.50 programme for £50 and selling a 10p(at best) to a newbie collector for £2.

It's the same multiple factor and does the hobby the same damage

It just makes him a bedroom bandit imo but one that is not looking for people who have to ask their missus for permission
