(Shame on you) None were overpriced.

seems to be a buyers market these days that's for sure Bazza...I had hopes of becoming a full-time seller, but a year on it's clear I won't be giving up the day job anytime soon.

Yes the place to sell is by Auction.
Ebay. The Programme Forum and Fairs are not the place to sell quality items.

Sorry to hear you cannot make a go of becoming a Full Time dealer, there are 2,000+ Part time Tax dodgers on the scene.
You have to be tough, dont stand no shit, and dont give your quality stuff away.

Plus he will probably need a lock-up garage to store them in which will be extra expense.

I inquired into the price of some of your programmes, not looking for cheap programmes just affordable prices at the current market value.

No shame in that.

I don't think the programme bubble has burst, the times when dealers had a monopoly on the value of programmes is long gone.
The programmes I inquired about are selling for half of your asking price.
Why not stick your programmes on eBay and lets see how much they are really worth. I have hundreds of programmes I paid good money for and now I look on eBay and people cannot even get 99p for them.
Lets remember this for most people is about collecting, not a business.

There are exceptions though.

I once paid a 3 figure sum for a relatively scarce wartime programme on EBay.

When the programme appeared at auction a few months later I was looking forward to being able to think that I got my copy at a pretty good price.

Imagine my disappointment when the programme sold for about one third of what I had paid.

Any quite recently I picked up another scarce item at one of the smaller auctions for a relatively low price because the collectors who I would have expected to bid against me on EBay, and push the price up, were not bidding at this auction.

Re Walsall reserves programmes
dare I say a penny cheaper to buy from you on eBay Laughing
In all seriousness shouldn't you be discounting a little compared to your eBay prices as there would be no fees to pay? This may attract a bit of interest?
Not a criticism just an observation based on what you have posted.

Atletico if you can get them on ebay at half the price why dont you get them there. I was asking £15 for some of the 1945/6 programmes and considering i paid that at Auction they are good value.

And Holtie £30 for a Pre War Reserve Walsall is a good price they dont come on the market unless Im selling them. They were part of a 200+ Collection of Walsall 1930s I picked up many years ago, and they are just the dregs i have left.

Why dont Holtie and Atletico list some 1940s programmes for sale and lets see how much you want for them... If you dare ..

I never said £30 wasn't a good price, I am just summising as to why they haven't sold on this forum, if they are the dregs then surely they are worth discounting to move on?
As I have said, this is just an observation not a criticism, you have dealt for years, ultimately you should know best

I dont need money desperately so i will sell them for a fair price and im not giving them away.
This forum is not a place to sell programmes anyway,
I have offered in the past
25,000 programmes for £220.
10,000 programmes with specials for £100.
350 1960s programmes for £155.
1,000 Aston Villa reserves for £100
100 1950s programmes for £100 and still no takers..

So this forum is a place to have a chat, request for rare programmes, have a display, and to moan at prices.

The programmes I was inquiring about were all priced at £30. I do buy most of my programmes off eBay.
I currently have a WBA programme on eBay from 35-36, good condition, without cover. Listed at £9.99 starting price it's had 8 views all week and nobody is watching it. No idea of it's value, in your opinion what would you be looking to get for such a programme ?
I have listed a few Villa 40's on eBay but they have struggled to reach £15.

Villa pre War No covers and Albion No Covers you will be lucky to get £10 - £15 each.

Villa 1940s are common but not the ones you were after from 1943/4 low crowds and low print run.

List all your 1940s on here and lets see how much you want.

I don't have any 40's to sell, I'm a collector looking for cheap programmes remember.
If you had 4 inquiries about your programmes and got no sales why do you think nobody bought any ??
