An interesting programme . One of those that turn up now and again I've never seen before. I'd hate to give a valuation.

Sod's Law, Jim. The two punched hole ones are probably the two most valuable ones in the lot - Sunderland maybe excepted.

I was on Countdown in 1998, the same day as Brazil played Scotland in the opening game. Won two games and the lost because two of my words were only in the unabridged Oxford Dictionary, not the concise one. Never mind, Carol and me had a ball!

Going off-piste somewhat John, surely you mean the 'unexpurgated' Oxford. What were your inadmissable words, disnae, swally and blootered?

When I appeared on the programme they only accepted words that were in the Concise Oxford Dictionary, not the far bigger "normal" version.

The two words I had disallowed were "livener" - believe it or not, and "unaired" as in either opinion or blankets etc. There was also a "p" in with the last set of letters and I considered "unpaired" but though better of it. I was told I could have had unpaired, and had I have gone for it would have won my third game. Nowadays they use the full version of the dictionary, and how anybody on there can't score a hundred points most games is beyond me.

Got all three conundrums, two within two seconds each. Richard Whiteley was a very amenable host, and Carol was.......

John there is no was about it, Carol IS a good shag-sorry for my bluntness but i saw her in a magazine the other day and she was "poured" into this skirt and i had to ensure none of my quality paper items were around, luckily i spotted an Ardwick programme from the 1890's and thought that'l do!
