Ffntresting fact.the local lancastrain reporter covering chelsea visit to blackpool, descibed the seaside afternoon as the worstday climatically for many seasons, seven days later writing in the following weeks programe was more specific.drenched to the skin again and again by the incessant downpour and frequent immersion in the icy lake which covered the pitch chilled to the marrow by the piercing wind, blackpool is alĺ right in summer time but simply pitless when a wintry north westerly gale is driving sheets of rain or snow acoss it.perhaps the home team were better prepared, by half time with the hurricanè at their backs were already three goals ahead and shortly afterwards jimmy hampton added another to compleat his hat trick and the scoring but more memorable by far than such details is the fact chelsea finished with the game with six playerson the field.one had already given up the stuggle by haft time, three more called it a day with quarter of hour still to play.and another opted for a early bath before referee mercifully blew for time.how long would todays panpered stars have lasted.that must be were saying southern softies comes from.

Sounds like a typical winter's afternoon in Blackpool although October does seem a bit early for that kind of harsh weather.

But players voluntarily leaving the field of play due to the conditions. Have they no shame. Laughing
