2004 and an FA Summer Tournament held at Manchester City’s stadium.

England, Japan and Iceland all played each other and on this day England drew 1-1 against Japan with Michael Owen scoring.

The programme covers all 3 matches.

29 years ago and the Freight Rover Trophy Final at Wembley.

39,897 in attendance to watch Wigan beat Brentford 3-1.

32 page programme issued costs just 60p and is excellent value for money with very limited advertising/marketing content. The highlight article is one looking back at the equivalent competitions in the 1930s and includes a scan of the single sheet issued by Bradford City for the Final in 1939.

June 2nd 1975

Wellington v Sheffield United

My spare copy of this programme.

The line across the bottom is actually where I tore it in two by mistake.

A lesson to be more careful in opening envelopes, and not to assume everyone is trying to sell you something Homer

30 years ago (1984) and a friendly between England and the USSR at Wembley.

A weakened England side lost 2-0 and Bobby Robson complained about the lack of availability of players on a regular basis.

I can’t comment on the programme as my England collection is not readily accessible and the scan is a low resolution one I have on the computer for reference.

83,179 at Wembley to see Ajax lift the trophy with a 2-0 win.

It's a Wembley programme so you know what to expect Smile

If it hadn't had said Beckham on the shirt, I would have sworn this was a women's match

Just after the war, and for the 2nd year running, Blackpool undertook a tour to Sweden and Denmark.

This time they played 5 matches, 3 against Danish opposition and 2 against Swedish opposition.

For the match on 3rd June 1948 they played a Copenhagen Combination X1 in Copenhagen, a match they lost 0-3 having won and lost in the 2 earlier matches against the same opposition.

Programmes were issued for all 5 matches and this is an 8 page issue.

37 years ago (1977) and a British Championship match between England and Scotland at Wembley.

Scotland won 2-1 in front of over 98,000 spectators.

Channon scored a late penalty for England and Mcqueen and Dalglish got Scotland’s goals.

I think Willie Johnston was sent off in this one.

The programme is a typical Wembley issue.

51 years ago (1963) and a friendly international between Switzerland and England at St Jakob Park in Basle.

England won 8-1 with Bobby Charlton netting a hat-trick, Byrne scoring 2 and Douglas, Kay (on his debut) and Melia scoring the others.

The programme also covers the Field Handball World Championship match between Switzerland and the USA played before the England game.

Possibly time to call it a day with this feature.

We have done well over 12 months now and although last summer we just about managed one per day, it is becoming much more difficult this time around.

The lack of contributors doesn't help either and even derby has not submitted for the last few days which suggests the feature may now have run its course.

I'd love to join in but don't have a scanner. I enjoy reading them all tho.
Perhaps include all sports & theatre programmes.
Many thanks to all contributors. Bow Bow Bow

I admit to struggling with June! (Plus I'm doing silly hours at work) Though I have found a few from the 10th onwards.
I'd like to keep it going but agree we need more contributors.
If it is the end, I'll miss it - I enjoy sharing and it's always good to see other people's programmes.

To be perfectly honest, the best bit about this feature is it's the one place on this forum where there's an escape from the "how much is this worth? How much did this go for on EBay?" type posts Smile

I'd like to see it continuing but if there are only one or two of us contributing it hardly seems worth it anymore.

I am away at the end of the month anyway so there could be a period when there's nothing being posted and that would probably be the time to call it a day.

I enjoy sharing my Blackpool programmes, but most of the classic ones from the many end of season overseas tours they undertook in the 40s and 50s, were shown last year. So I am having to dig a bit deeper and I am beginning to think is it worth the effort.

As for seeing other peoples programmes, we are just not getting that opportunity with so few contributors. Even in the main season when relevant programmes are in abundance, the most contributors we have had on one day is probably about 5 or 6 and that's not every day.

If the feature continues I will try and post when I have something interesting but not routinely post every day.

There has been some wonderful programmes, old, new, rare and sentimental. I always check each day, but haven't had the time to check this year as much because I didn't want to post a programme from the year before.

When I started this thread, February 1st 2013. I never imagined that it would go so long.

I was hoping we might get a calender year, so it really has achieved that and more.

Sadly, it probably has run its course now and maybe in a couple of years time we possibly could do it again.

Regards Sharrowblade

Not being a collector of World Cup games or internationals or Cup Finals, June is a bit of a wasteland for me (though I've got one for the 10th) - but I'm fine from July onwards.

So I'm all in favour of keeping it going....but will go with the majority vote!

Nice try sharrow but as people already appear reluctant (for whatever reason) to submit football covers, do you think they will be bothered to submit non-football covers?

Hi Bispham, no.... that's why I edited my original draft.

As I pointed out above, the original plan was to see if we could do it for a whole year, which I think barring one day we did.

I think the time is right to let this one go
