65 years ago (1949) and a Central League fixture between Bolton Wanderers reserves and Blackpool reserves.

The programme is a 6 page gate-fold style programme with notes, fixtures, league tables, team line-ups and a half time scoreboard.

70 years ago and a representative game at the Baseball Ground between a British Army XI and a Civil Defence XI.

Some well known faces in each line-up (see below), the Army team won 2-0.

4 page ad-free programme issued on light-green paper costing 2d. Background to the game on p.2, lineups on p.3, back cover was blank other than the printer's logo.

60 years ago (1954) and a Central League fixture between Blackpool reserves and Everton reserves.

Like a lot of clubs, Blackpool's reserve programmes in the 50s were ‘full’ programmes to the same size and style as 1st team programmes.

They were numbered in a series 1 to 40 something (this season was 1 to 41 as there were some single sheets) so to have full sets is an objective of mine.

Everton won this match 3-2 and reports suggest that Everton adapted better to the frozen conditions.

Afternoon all, keep up the good work, its over a year since we started, february 1st. It seemed a good idea at the time Confused And apart from a couple of days in June (23rd and 28th) we did it.

Keep them coming, for this year, don't be confined just to footy programmes. If you wish, throw in some other sports feel free.

Regards Sharrowblade

Back to 1982 and Lynn host Southport in the Northern Premier League. The match ended in a 0-0 draw in front of a crowd of 688.

This seasons programmes were rarely updated with results / fixtures / league tables. Several adverts throughout.

54 years ago and some programme symmetricity as the first and second XJs of Derby and Liverpool meet in, respectively, the Second Division and the Central League.

Except it wasn't quite the case....the game at Anfield was abandoned after 71 minutes when one of those peasouper fogs we never seem to get these days engulfed the stadium (with Liverpool leading 1-0).

No such problem at the Baseball Ground - though Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners.

66 years ago (1948) and an FA Cup 5th Rd tie between Blackpool and Colchester United.

Colchester were a Southern League club at that time and had beaten Wrexham, Huddersfield and Bradford Park Avenue on their way to the 5th Rd.

Unfortunately they came up against an in form Blackpool side who were on the way to their first FA Cup Final.

Blackpool won 5-0 with goals from Munro, McIntosh 2 and Mortensen 2.

The programme was a standard 8 page issue.

At the same time as Blackpool were beating Colchester to reach the 6th round of the Cup, Derby were winning 2-1 at Ayresome Park to join them in the Q/Final draw.

43,000 in attendance. Goals from Reg Harrison and Jack Stamps.

4 page programme issued. Not much to read other than an introduction to the Rams on the back page.

I've never known why, for years, 'Boro programmes had the phrase "Key Card" on the cover. Anyone enlighten me?

I just love the name.

Butterley Brick.

If Camberwick Green or Trumpton had a village team, this would be the perfect moniker for them.

Programme is even issued on butter-coloured paper Smile

62 years ago (1952) and a 1st Division fixture between Manchester City and Blackpool.

The programme is an 8 page issue, with very small print, and includes fixtures and a league table for the Manchester League whose games were played at Hatters Park Ground in Denton.

The match ended 0-0 with over 47,000 in attendance.

68 years ago and the first leg of the 5th round FA Cup tie between Brighton and Derby at the Goldstone Ground.

4-1 win for the Rams in front of 22,000.

The programme is 8 pages in length and the same dimensions as those pocket-sized issues so many clubs put out iin the early 60s.

The only reading of note is on the back page but on p.2 is an interesting advert listing all the bars in Brighton where the avid darts player can get a game. Useful!
