64 years ago (1950) and an FA Cup 4th Rd tie between Blackpool and Doncaster Rovers.

This was the first cup tie between the 2 clubs although they had played each a few times before the war in the 2nd Division.

Blackpool won this tie 2-1 with goals from McIntosh and McKnight in front of 31,000 spectators. Doherty scored for Doncaster.

The programme is a standard 8 page issue numbered 29.

Back a couple of years to 2012 and Lynn are away at Stewarts & Lloyds (Corby). This was in the United Counties League and only the second season of Lynn reforming. Lynn won the match 2-1 in front of 141 (mostly from Lynn!!).

The programme is full of interesting info.

81 years ago and a 4th round FA Cup tie at the Kursaal Ground between Southend and Derby.

A close thing but the Rams triumph 3-2 in front of 15,188.

The 12 page programme is a bit light on reading material but full of adverts for the local cinemas and seaside attractions.

Great ad on the back page - "Talkies At Garon's Cinema".
This week showing Claudette Colbert in "The Man From Yesterday" and Ben Turpin in "Million Dollar Legs". One shilling, any seat in the house.

The crease on the programme looks worse than it actually is.

28 years ago and a Freight Rover Trophy tie at Deepdale between Preston and Bury.

I don't know why but, for whatever reason, it was decided to play this game on a Wednesday afternoon with a 2pm kick-off. Possibly because both clubs had already been eliminated and it wasn't considered worth the expense of putting the floodlights on for an evening KO?

Anyway, only 751 turned up to watch Preston win 2-0.

A (free?) single card was issued for the match and what you see is what you got, as the reverse is blank.

Anyone know if this is Preston's lowest-ever home gate?

Back to 1949 and Lynn travel to play Chelmsford City Reserves, in the Eastern Counties League. Several players were delayed in fog, and veteran YMCA and Ingoldisthorpe 'keeper Hooks, who had travelled as a supporter and not played for some years, was called on to make an unexpected debut. Lynn lost to the League Champions 2-11.

Back to 1985 and Lynn are at home to Marine (from Merseyside) in a rearranged match in the FA Trophy, 1st Round. Hopefully the original tie was postponed in time, so that Marine did not make the long journey to Lynn.
Lynn lost the match 1-2 in front of 635 spectators.

The programme is a 4 page issue, just with club notes, line ups and Marine pen pics.

26 years ago and to Larkhall in South Lanarkshire for a Central League Div.2 fixture between Royal Albert and Glenboig.

20p gets you a really excellent almost ad-free programme full of match reports, articles on the opposing team and historical bits and pieces.

All put together in a very "homespun" manner. And it works.

Glenboig have long since folded, (groundless) Royal Albert still going though.

1925 and a Berks & Bucks Cup tie at Chesham won 2-0 by the home side. Four page large size programme printed black on pink paper. This match included the incident that later resulted in the death of Chesham player, Maurice Barnes.

55 years ago - league leaders Sheffield Wednesday are held to a 1-1 draw by 8th placed Derby in front of a crowd of 30,923.

8 page programme issued. Club notes include an apology to those supporters who had to stand with their feet in water at the Leppings Lane end of the ground in their previous home game.

Apparently the rapid thaw in the icy conditions had taken everyone at the club by surprise....

Back to 1953 and Lowestoft Town are the visitors to King's Lynn. This was a match in the Eastern Counties League, which Lynn won 6-1 with 2531 in attendance.

The programme is standard issue for the season, a good mix of club info and adverts.

This feature started a year ago to the day - February 1st - so those of us who contribute will have to be careful not to repeat ourselves Smile
