84 years ago and a joint issue covering both Liverpool clubs.

In this issue, it's Liverpool's reserve game with Oldham at Anfield and a First Division clash at Goodison as Everton, one place off the foot of the table, gained a surprising 4-0 win over 3rd placed Derby. 35,436 in attendance.

The 16 page programme (printed on rather sub-standard paper) covers events at both clubs fairly equally though there is an emphasis on Everton's game.

Usual plethora of evocative advertising including a full page one on the back cover from travel agents Tapscott Smith offering 14 day luxury cruises for....£30!

Back to 1967 and Chelmsford City are the visitors to The Walks. Lynn win 4-0 in front of 1638 spectators.

The programme is standard issue for the season, full of club info and the obligatory adverts.

I've only ever seen one game at your ground.
It was definitely some point in September 1982 but I can't remember the opposition - and if I bought a programme, it's long since lost!

Could you check back your records and remind me who it might have been?
It was a Saturday afternoon.

Hi Derby

Matches in September 1982 at The Walks were 4th v Burton Albion, 8th v Worksop Town and 29th v Matlock Town. This was our the last season of our short stay in the NPL. We did also play Norwich City in a friendly on 15th September.

Hope this helps

Andy

Back to 1935 and King's Lynn were at home to Norwich St. Barnabus in the 2nd Round of the Norfolk Senior Cup. Lynn ran out 5-3 winners in front of 500 supporters.

The programme is an 8 page issue, mainly containing adverts.

26 years ago and to Somerton Park for a Freight Rover Trophy tie in what would turn out to be Newport County's final season in the league.

1.232 in attendance to see Hereford win 3-2.

8 page glossy programme issued for the game. Interesting article entitled "Times Change - Or Do They" reflects upon a similar crisis at the club back in October of 1953.

The "player's roster" for 87/88 shows that the club had already used 33 players in the season to date.

The front cover photograph is from their recent game against Exeter.

Thanks for that, Andy. Must have been the game with Burton I saw. That does ring a bell.

63 years ago and a Kent Senior Cup tie between Ashford Town and Whitstable Town.

The home side were lying 3rd in the Kent League (First Division), the visitors some way below in 13th place. Player-manager Charlie Walker (ex-West Ham) was in the side at centre-half.

8 page programme printed black on dark blue paper has a distinct pre-war feel to it, the club notes on pages 2,3 and 7 all surrounded by copious advertising. Page 6 has a very inviting full-page ad for the "Co-op Fireside Chair and Occasional Table....perfect to hold his ashtray, book or coffee"

Note the "average gate has dropped to 1,990" notice on the front cover....what wouldn't the club give for that now.

Their current average league gate is....203.

The club were reformed as Ashford United 3 years ago and play in the Southern Counties East league - which they currently lead.

64 years ago (1950) and a 1st Division fixture between Charlton Athletic and Blackpool.

Blackpool won 2-1 in front of nearly 45,000 spectators with Mortensen and McIntosh getting Blackpool’s goals.

The programme is a neat 8 page issue with 2 and a bit pages of club notes, fixtures and league tables including the Football Combination and London Mid-Week League, team line-ups and a half time scoreboard.

Where does the time go? Bit of an anniversary issue for me, is this one.

36 years ago today. Listened to this game on Sport On Two in the afternoon....and in the evening myself and a schoolmate had our very first go at a spot of under-age drinking (in the Brentwood Bar in Crown Street, Aberdeen).

We spun a coin to see who would go up to the bar. I lost and can still recall how nervous I was as I asked for "two pints of beer, please".

Got away with it Smile

But...where does the time go?

59 years ago (1955) and a Central League fixture between Blackpool and Aston Villa.

Blackpool won 4-1 with goals from Shimwell, Taylor, Smith and Wright.

The attendance was a healthy 5,600 but still nearly 4,000 short of that season’s highest reserve crowd.

The programme was a standard 8 page issue numbered 28.

Back to 1972 and Lynn are away in the 1st Round of the FA Trophy to Barnstaple Town. It was deemed to be quite a trip and King's Lynn chartered a plane to fly them to the West Country. Lynn ultimately lost the tie 1-2 in front of a crowd of 737.
