A 22nd June friendly in 1973, a 1-0 loss in Switzerland.

The following year at the World Cup Finals in West Germany, a 1-1 draw with Yugoslavia

Euro 1996 again and a quarter final between England and Spain at Wembley.

After drawing 0-0 England actually went on to win a penalty shoot out by 4 goals to 2 which I think is England's only penalty shoot out success in a major competition.

The 68 page programme also covered the France v Netherlands quarter final played on the same day at Anfield, a game which was also decided on penalties.

Been away all day and just noticed a programme hasn't yet been added for today.

I do not have one dated 23rd June.

There is now less than 2 hours for someone to come up with one otherwise this will be the first date without a programme since sharrow started this thread.

Not quite a programme - match ticket, Morocco v Scotland 1998 World Cup.

Better than nothing?

Christ, was that where I was 15 years ago today? how time flies.

Gutted though I was, the Moroccans were even more gutted as they thought they were through to the next stage, only for news to filter through that Norway had beaten Brazil with a last minute winner.

Next best thing to a programme derby.

I would have uploaded a ticket myself but I have neither a ticket or programme to offer.

Blackpool progressed to the final of the 1972 Anglo Italian Cup as holders but couldn’t retain the trophy and lost out to a strong Roma side by 3 goals to one.

The match was played at the Stadio Olimpico.

There were no programmes available on the night and it wasn’t until a few years ago that an 8 page programme turned up which apparently was given out in the VIP/Directors area.

The one shown here is a black and white version. If anyone has a colour version please let me know.

There were no individual official match programmes produced for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany.

This a pirate for England’s match against Ecuador played at the Neckarstadion in Stuttgart.

England won 1-0 with a goal from Beckham.

The programme is a glossy 24 page issue which was on sale at the match.

I am not sure where I acquired this tatty programme from but it is an interesting addition to this thread being from the North American Soccer League.

This match played in 1968 was between Los Angeles Wolves and Dallas Tornados although the programme cover shows the teams the other way around.

Ray Wood the ex Manchester United and Huddersfield Town goalkeeper was coach for the Wolves.

The match was played at the Pasedena Rose Bowl which has hosted NFL Super Bowl Games, 1984 Olympic football matches, the 1994 World Cup and the 1999 Women's World Cup.

A 28 page programme was produced.

There is a small reference in the centre of the programme that there was a preliminary game between Shamrock Rovers and an Irish (LA) All Stars X1 but this doesn’t get any other coverage in the programme.

I think that's the way they do things over in States.
Certainly in the NFL, the away team is shown first.
Rather than use "versus", they use "at"

You're right Steve but the programme says "vs".

Doesn't surprise me, It's a bit like putting the month before the day as in 6/26 for today.

And just as an advance warning I have nothing at the moment for the next 2 perhaps 3 days.

34 years ago.....June 27th 1979

Off to the Ukraine,

SKA Kiev v Novator Zdanov

Can't find out anything on SFA Kiev and Novator, I assume were named after Andrei Zhdanov, Stalin's trusted assitant who was famous for being the only citizen (he was in charge) to put on weight during the siege of Leningrad by the Germans.

Had his food supply specially flown in on a daily basis from the Kremlin! Presumably had his conscience surgically removed as a child...

65 years ago Today.....yes, I'm cheating again

Boxing at Villa Park, is the best I can come up with.

Vince Hawkins v Dick Turpin

After 15 rounds, Turpin was given the decision. Vince Hawkins was dismayed with the verdict and claimed he'd been the victim of highway robbery.
