Post subject: Goals and Wickets - New website

Just launched a new website called Goals and Wickets.

This is a new version of a blog I have been writing for 2 years which also links with my Ebay Shop.

So its the combination of blog and shop.

In the website / blog, I have focused on the memorabilia categories of annuals, programmes and magazines in football and cricket, the categories of items I sell on Ebay (and the 2 sports I played when younger - see the About Us page)).

The old blog included general posts on football and cricket where I wrote something if I felt I had something to say. These posts are included in 'Other Topics' on both Football and Cricket homepages.

What you see on the site is just a start. Using the Club and People tag system on the left hand side of the pages, time permitting, I hope to put on a lot more content about individual publications (like the ones already there) as well as some archive reference posts which will help collectors find items with their club's content in them (colour photos etc).

This last part, I am hoping, will be most valuable to people but is also the work which will take a huge amount of time based on what I have done so far.

There are links on every page to Ebay should visitors want to browse / buy items after reading about them in the posts. The links take the visitor directly to my Ebay Shop homepage.

The site is supported on Facebook and Twitter.

The links are here;

Website - http://www.goalsandwickets.co.uk/

Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/goalsandwickets?ref=hl

Twitter - https://twitter.com/GoalsandWickets

Any comments / feedback would be welcomed.

And thanks to anyone who has a look.

Mark

Great site,shall be having a browse at my leasure.

I was the guy who contacted you several months ago re Derek Dougan items , you dont have anything "new" re The Doog by any chance ,at the mo i am collecting old scrap books re his six Football League Clubs match reports etc.
Good luck with the site ,you sure deserve it after the amount of work you have put in.
Regards.

That's very kind, nozer.

And I actually mentioned your enquiries in this post (I'd be happy to edit in your name and what you are doing Doog-wise, if you want - let me know);

http://www.goalsandwickets.co......and-clubs/

I go to most of the football memorabilia auctions and certainly check their catalogues if I don't go, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for stuff on the Doog for you.

Thanks again for the kind comments.

Best wishes,

Mark

Just spotted this lot, nozer;

Maybe Andy at Football Sporting Auctions might know if there is any Doog content?

Looks great - bookmarked for later.

Only read the West Ham article so far but answered one question for me -about those 4 page inserts that weren't inserts in the early 70s homes.

Thanks Derby1884 and CelticViking. Much appreciated.

On the West Ham issue, saw a lot of Hammers' programmes advertised without the inserts. To me, this means that the programmes are not complete as the inserts were usually pp9-12.

I am looking a bit more carefully these days!!!

Many thanks to everyone on the Forum who had a look at my site since I started this thread yesterday morning.

With the wonders of Google Analytics, I can see that I've had over 50 hits direct from the link I put in the post and they are much appreciated.

Thumbs Up

Had a quick browse and enjoyed it. I've got every Shoot annual since they started and think I'll start filling in the quiz books now. Also got about 15 Wisdens as I'm a big cricket fan as well and sometimes come across really old " cricket bibles" in book shops and enjoy flicking through them ( bit expensive at the moment though(

Great site though mate well done

David Conn has written an interesting piece in the Guardian today on PL Finances. It breaks down each club for the 2011/12 season showing all the key financial indicators.

The numbers and amounts of money are not a surprise (we've seen this stuff before) but they are nontheless, quite eye watering.

Vast income and vast outgoings, mainly to players etc etc

I've reviewed it / summarised it here;

Thanks to programme Monthly & Football Collectable for the review of Goals and Wickets in the April 2013 edition of the magazine.

I have reciprocated and written a post about the review and also the PM&FC magazine on the site;

Just finished my latest 'Brief Guide', this time on Arsenal programmes.

I hope anyone who can spend a few minutes for a look finds it interesting.

As ever, if anyone spots any errors, please let me know.

I am trying to be careful with the issue of values in these articles although, especially for any new or potential collectors, I feel I have to put something.

The Ebay examples at the end are only a snapshot and I am not positioning them as b/w benchmarks.

And thanks again for all the hits from this site - much appreciated.
