The strip supplier looks like late 70s Bukta. No idea who the team is although the guy behind the cup does look vaguely familiar. Tony Grealish????

Just a guess Oxford United - Oxford Benevolent Cup. One of the suits on the back row looks like Ron Atkinson

I thought that too - chap second from the left looks suspiciously like Big Ron.

Really recognise the chap front left but can't place him. Was originally thinking maybe Bristol City but I now think it could be Ayr United?

Where's Dangerman when you need him?

Looks like Hereford United to me........because the old guy in the middle of the back row looks like the gent we met at their ground (and who laid on a free buffet for us) on the AFS tour in 1981.

Also the stand in the background looks a bit like Edgar Street.

Further investigation.... Sherlock

I reckon the player on the extreme left of the middle row could pass for Ayr's Alex Ingram and I believe the stand in the background is at Ayr United's Somerset Park. The trophy could be the Ayrshire Cup which they won 5 times in 6 seasons between 1974/5 & 1979/80?

Dangerman or Ayr Collector please help!

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The badge on the jackets of the back row does not look like Oxford United but a couple of the players bear a similarity to others I have seen.

I would be grateful for help on the Ayr United and other possibles or any other suggestions.

Not important in the great scheme of things but I do not like mysterys.

Don't think it is Ayr Utd. I do not recognise any of the players and I saw them quite a few times 70s and 80s. Pretty sure the player mentioned is not Alex Ingram.

Thanks Bazza and Hereford move into first place - a rare occurance.

I do not have any reference books for Hereford so I will search the net. If anyone else can offer any confirmation or otherwise that would be helpful.

All the evidence points towards Ayr being a useless punt (bit like myself!) but according to the Historical Kits website Hereford have never played in an open style v necked collar, theirs had the bottom of the v filled in

Sherlock

Reminds me of the anonymous person who keeps adding soil to my allotment.....the plot thickens Shake

The goalkeeper looks like a young Ray Clemence who played for Scunthorpe United 65-67.

don't think it is ayr as the badge should be on the right side not the left as the kit is here http://historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Ayr_United/Ayr_United.htm
