Question - does the inclusion of the FoB logo necessarily indicate that the match is a FoB match?
Apparently not - the programme below is for St.Austell v Bideford in the FA Cup.
Was it common practice for some clubs to include the logo regardless of the status of the match the issue was for?

I think maybe not just in sporting events. It is likely that a lot of companies and organisations adopted the logo that year. I have a programme from that year which also sports the logo.

According to my records the following Football League clubs took NO part in the Festival of Britain: Arsenal, Blackburn, Brentford, Burnley, Coventry, Everton, Exeter, Ipswich, Sheffield United, Torquay & Wolves.

In my records I have Torquay listed as playing three Festival of Britain games:

9-5-1951 Torquay United v Penzance 5-1
14-5-1951 Torquay United v Falmouth Town 6-1
19-5-1951 Barnstaple FC v Torquay United 3-4

Can anyone else verify these fixtures? Sherlock

I have a copy of Penzance v Torquay 9th May 1951 with a few of Torquay players autographs.

Of no real consequence, but I picked up this FoB guide up on EBay for about 75p recently - it's a terrific read. Worth it just for the pages and pages of rather colourful adverts!

....yet another Festival of Britain fixture...

15 May 1951

Pentre Boys Club v Manchester United Juniors 1-9

at Cae Mawr, Treorchy

I've no idea whether a programme was produced.

Only just spotted this thread.
There was indeed a programme for this game.
It is very difficult to find.

However i can proudly confirm that one resides in my collection.
You can find a scan of the cover and the team page in the set marked "not too many of these buggers about" at

www.flickr.com/photos/63580000@N04/sets

If you need any scans of any other pages just drop me a pm and i will be happy to oblige.
Also i have a set marked "John Doherty"
JD,as he was affectinally known, was a youth player at this time and included in this set is a photo of the captains before the kick off.
A totally unique one off item

Enjoy

The following 2 scans are the cover and inside pages given by Manchester United to the Red Star players for the FOB game at Old Trafford.
As you can see from the inside page it says
"The bearer is a member of the above football club and doesn't speak English"
"Show him the way back to his hotel"
