Post subject: FAO Cardiff City collectors - new stadium programmes
Reply with quote

Hi,
A few questions in relation to your new stadium and programmes for it?

1. Are any of you aware of any plans for programmes/teamsheets for the first few games at the new stadium?
2. Do you know if you will be able to buy these programmes from the online shop like I did against Ipswitch (no reply when emailing the club but will phone)
3. What is the stadium going to be called?
4. Are these fixtures correct as the first few:

04/07/2009 Cardiff City v Cardiff City Legends FR (Ramp up event)
10/07/2009 Cardiff City v Chasetown FR (First ever)
22/07/2009 Cardiff City v Celtic FR (Official opening)
08/08/2009 Cardiff City v Scunthorpe United (First league)

Thanks.

The fixtures you list are correct.

Firstly, let me explain; Cardiff City are a poorly run club but i assume you ask as you want the programme for your first/lasts collection...

I *think* the first programme is the Chasetown game, but i could be wrong... im going to all 4 games listed and would you like me to get you a programme where available?

As for point two... People waited ages and ages for programmes they bought online for our Arsenal FA Cup home game and also for Ipswich, so dont worry about online sales, ill sort it for you.

The Stadium Naming Rights are for sale... In brief Sam Hammam agreed to take a lump sum for these (£6m) in exchange for writing off the same sum of debt. This is binding but there is no way we will get 6m so the stadium will be called "The Cardiff City Stadium" for the time being and then WHATEVER the rights get sold for, we still get the 6m written off our debt to Sam

Finally, yes all your fixtures are correct. There is a game between Celtic and Scunnie which is Valencia and also Cardiff Blues, who are renting the stadium from the Football Club play a game at some point between the 10th and 22nd i think - Im not sure ill get a programme for this so if you want this its best to ask around.... They are more prepared though and you can probably get it online!

Ok, If anyone else wants anything let me know.

As i say, im not entirely sure which games are having programmes issued yet - Id assume all of them though.

Dont suppose anyone wants any of our last game at Ninian Park vs Ipswich? I have 4 spares! Laughing They aer £5 each and probably about a quid to post as they are heavy

There were 4,900 there but it was all a bit strange. Sat in the ground to me there looked less space than Ninian Park (18000) but there are infact 27000 seats there. The crowd to me looked about 2500 so it was all very odd!

The programmes sold out an hour before the game and i heard they only printed a few hundred though im not sure how true this is.

One point though is the price of stuff...

Beer is £3.40 - was £2.80 at Ninian Park
Pie is £2.80 - was about £1.90
CheeseBurger is £3.50 - was about £2.90

What do you all pay at your grounds?

All in all though, there isnt a bad seat in the house, its nice and compact to the pitch and it is an improvement to Ninian Park!

SOUNDS LIKE A 'EMPTY' 1ST GAME AT A NEW GROUND, I PREFER THE OLD TERRACES MY SELF, YOU GET A BETTER ATMOSPHERE AND YOU CAN STAND UP!!

IS THE OFFICAL OPENING AGAINST CELTIC?

IT WOULD BE INTRESTING TO KNOW WHAT THE ACTUAL PRINT RUN OF THE PROGRAMMES WAS, IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO BE A FEW HUNDRED IF THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE GATE WAS, COULD YOU EMAIL THE CLUB AND FIND OUT WHAT THE PRINT RUNS OF THE PROGRAMMES ARE? WOULD BE INTRESTING TO KNOW.

YOU CANT BUY A BEER INSIDE HUISH PARK FOR SOME REASON, ITS A BIT STUPID REALLY BUT THEY DO SELL BOTTLES OF CARLING OUTSIDE THE BLACTHORN STAND FOR £2.20 WHICH IS QUITE REASONABLE I THINK?

A PIE IS £2.50, NOT THE BEST I MUST SAY!!!!

AND A BURGER YOU CAN ONLY BUY AT HALF TIME? DONT KNOW WHY BUT IT SEEMS ALL THE WEST COUNTRY GROUNDS DONT SELL BURGERS? DONT KNOW WHY? BUT THEY ARE £2.50

IF YOU'VE EVER BEEN TO HP, THEN YOU KNOW HOW POOR THE FOOD SERVICE IS, BUT HEY I GO THERE FOR THE FOOTBALL NOT TO SCOFF MY FACE FULL OF FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Happy LOL.

ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR GETTING ME A PROGRAMME AND WILL BE IN TOUCH

CHEERS

Celtic is the first game when there will be a safety certificate for 100% capacity. The fixtures that Carlisle posted are fully correct.

Ive posted on the Cardiff City messageboard regarding the programmes to see if anyone knows for sure as it would be pointless in asking Cardiff City for advice Homer

When Sunderland left Roker Park and moved into new stadium , prices went up , pastie and a bovril @ Roker = 90p , 3month later in the new ground , same order = 2.80p .

Just thought you may want to see a PDF of the programme that the club has released. It doesnt include the outside cover as this is printed seperatly.
