Hi all.

I have noticed over the last couple of years the consistently high prices fetched by pre war Leeds programmes, which along with Man United regularly attract much attention.

Does anybody Know why this is,are they genunlely scarce or is it just that there are many Leeds collectors?

I assume that the print run for Leeds Utd pre-war programmes was a pretty low one and that is why they don't surface too often.
For season 31/32 they ran a raffle and numbered the programmes. Fortunately I have a full set for that season and the highest numbered programme is 1974. The majority of the others are under 1000.

Congratulations on having a full set from 31/32 - must be worth a kings ransom. Have you collected those over the years or were you lucky enough to be handed them down - assuming you weren't a season ticket holder at the time !!

Most of the Leeds pre-war home programmes I have in my collection was in response to an advert that I put in Exchange and Mart in 1971. A relative of the person I bought them from had lived in Leeds before and during the war. I now only need 35 league and cup homes back to 30/31 season, including wartime, to complete the set.

If you ever get bored with looking at them, or they take up too much room, or you get an urge to burn / dispose / give them away then please just send me a PM !

Lovely programme, can you confirm the date please? Can't quite make it out from the pictures.

There are a few league of Ireland games but post war.

Thanks for the list of friendlies. Re those played in Ireland.

I have Portadown 38 but nothing known for Distillery or Newry Town. Distillery were issuing at the time. I don't know if Newry Town were.

Almost certainly nothing done for Shelbourne 47 or Shamrock Rovers 47 or Leinster League 51. Dundalk 51 exists and I've seen it but need it. Limerick are my home town team but never saw anything for that game. I don't think Cork 51 exists but there were rumours in the past.

Cork 55 and Drumcondra 55 both exist as does Ballymena - not listed that I can see.

The others are probably well known although some like Ards 64 and UCD 71 are very rare.
