What's rare about it, apart from the price?

nobody mentioned rare, i think it says scarce, and i only know that because it cost me £15 a few year back and i've had a few locals as me about it, so if i'm selling i at least want my money back.
if it doesn't sell i'm quite happy to keep it.

Don't wish to be pedantic, but please see what Thesaurus has to say what the definition of scarce is.

scarce

adjective

= in short supply, wanting, insufficient, deficient, at a premium, thin on the ground • Food was scarce and expensive.
opposites: sufficient, ample, abundant, plentiful, plenteous
= rare, few, unusual, uncommon, few and far between, infrequent, thin on the ground, seldom met with • I'm unemployed, so luxuries are scarce.
opposites: common, numerous, frequent, commonplace

I'll pass on that if you don't mind. Just wondered why it was scarce, and I still don't know.

Was at an auction about October time at Thomson and Roddicks in Carlisle, and the whole season including friendlies only went for about £20 if my memory serves me well.

Mind you, I did get the 69-70 season for about £25, and that included the Rangers friendly, and the Bradford Park Avenue home - which is supposed to be rare.

I think perhaps you're right, Badhand. There's absolutely nothing wrong in saying an item is scarce, or rare, or whatever terminology takes your fancy as long as it's backed up by fact.

People can be persuaded by any manner of means to purchase things for particular prices, hence the massive advertising industry we have today and why folk buy things they never use because the advertisers persuaded them to do so. Putting terminology like rare or scarce next to an item on ebay without justification probably has the same effect, especially as the Buy It Now price for the same item reveals.
