Match ended 4-2 to the home side. Team line-ups on the reverse.

82 years ago (1931) and a lovely 12 page programme for a 1st Division fixture between Blackpool and Manchester City.
I really like the cover from this season and just wish I had the chance to acquire more but they rarely appear.
The game ended 2-2 in front of 25,000 spectators with Jimmy Hampson scoring both Blackpool’s goals.

Another wonderful Blackpool front cover.
I wonder how programmes would have developed had the Second World War not taken place?
I suppose the general standard of 40s/50s issues would have been better - but 20s/30s issues wouldn't command the prices they do today as they wouldn't be quite so rare. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/derby1884/sets/ |

51 years ago and a League Cup tie between 2nd Division Newcastle and 1st Division Leyton Orient.
22,500 watched a 1-1 draw, a creditable result for the O's given that they lost 'keeper Frank George to injury after 71 minutes, skipper Stan Charlton taking over in goal. They could have won but Newcastle equalised from a penalty kick with 3 minutes remaining.
Good value 16 page programme for 3d includes three full pages of match photos.
The gate of 22,500 was about 12,000 down on their league average - even then the competition had difficulty pulling the punters in.

Yes, I would imagine that the good standard of a lot of the 1930s programmes would have been maintained with more colour covers and perhaps even more pages.
I am not sure though how much cheaper 1920s and 1930s programmes would be today.
On the flip side I think I would miss some of the flimsy war time issues. |

61 years ago and a programme for a match between Blackpool and Charlton Athletic which was Blackpool’s highest post war league score.
The game ended 8-4 with a hat-trick for Allan Brown and goals from Mortensen, Matthews, Garrett, Taylor and an own goal.
There have been bigger aggregates such as 7-0 and 7-1 but this was the only 8. It is just a pity they had to let 4 in but it must have been great entertainment.

83 years ago today 1930
A 3-1 win over Pompey courtesy of a hat-trick of Jimmy Dunne headers.
The Big two advertised on the front were the two major cinemas in sheffield at the time and not some exotic revue show as Derby1884 would like to allude to

This day 41 years ago and a European Cup tie in Sarajevo for the Rams.
A 2-1 win in front of 45,000.
28 page programme is full of reading - would that I could understand a word of it.
The Derby lineup in the programme is an amusing use of phonetic English!
At least they got Alan Hinton's name right

53 years ago (1960) and Blackpool’s first ever match in the League Cup.
This was away to Leeds United and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
A 16 page programme was issued.

Large single sheet issued by Ransome and Marles (Newark) for their home game with Brinsley.
The bovril stain on the front I don't mind - lends the programme an air of authenticity
Nothing on the reverse other than a big advert for a local gents' outfitters.

Bending the rules slightly [2 in 1 day] - but with good reason as I'm hoping someone could tell me a bit more about this club. Or, indeed, the opposition.
Can't find very much on Google.
Were they a works team? Is this Guinness the famous Irish pint or is it something else entirely?
