England v Argentina last 16 match at the 1998 World Cup in France.

I am sure I had a pirate programme for this game but I either got rid of it or I am mistaken.

So not actually a programme for this specific date but the 176 page tournament brochure which includes this game played on the 30th of June.

The game ended 2-2 with Shearer and Owen scoring the goals but England went out in a penalty shoot out.

Returning from the exhausting 1965 tour of New Zealand, Blackpool and Sheffield United stopped off in Hong Kong on the way home.

They both played a Hong Kong X1 over the 16th and 17th of June with Sheffield United winning their match 3-2 (16th) and Blackpool winning their match 7-2 (17th).

The matches were played at the Happy Valley Stadium which although mainly a racecourse, contains sports and leisure facilities in the inner area with football, hockey and rugby fields.

A large style programme was issued covering both games and was issued free with entry.

Apologies for going back a month, but did you know Bispham, that there is also a newspaper edition for these 2 games, which is described as the 'official' programme?

No, I was not aware of a newspaper edition for these 2 games.

Do you have a copy sharrow?

Yes. Here's half a page from inside. I'll send you a picture of the cover later tonight.

You're confusing me now sharrow.

In June 1965 Blackpool and Sheffield United stopped off in Hong Kong on their way back from the mammoth series in New Zealand.

They both played a Hong Kong X1 but not as far as I was aware a Combined Chinese X1.

However, Blackpool did play a Combined Chinese X1 (and a Hong Kong X1) in 1958 on their way back from the tour of Australia.

Looking at the line up this is definitely 1965 but does this mean we also played a Combined Chinese X1 or did the newspaper just call them this rather a Hong Kong X1.
