As mentioned in the June thread, there were no official individual match programmes produced for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany.

This a pirate for England’s quarter final match against Portugal played at the Arena AufSchalke (now called Veltins Arena) in Gelsenkirchen.

The match ended 0-0 and yet again England go out on a penalty shoot out.

The programme is a glossy 24 page issue which was on sale at the match.

40 years ago today July 1st 1973

NewFoundland All Stars v Ayr United

Surely Dangerman has got this one.

This match was played on 1st July 1973 as part of Ayr United’s first tour of Canada in June and July of that year.
Played at King George V Park in St John’s Newfoundland, United ran up nine goals in an emphatic 9-1 win.
The highlight for the Honest Men was a five goal solo effort from George McLean and a hat trick from Alex Ingram with Davie Wells finishing the rout.

One of the odd programmes I had lying around for a while was this single sheet for an Intertoto Cup 2nd Rd 1st leg tie between Odense BK v Shelbourne from 2006.

The programme has long since been moved on but I always try and keep a small scan of anything that passes through my hands.

The match was played at Fionia Park now known as TRE-FOR Park.

Odense won this leg 3-0 and the aggregate 3-1.

A pre 1966 World Cup friendly between Denmark and England played at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

This was Peter Bonetti’s first cap and Jimmy Greaves’ 50th cap.

England won the game 2-0 with goals from Jack Charlton and George Eastham.

The programme is 8 pages.

11 years ago July 3rd 2002

Northern Ireland, as United win 5-1 in a friendly against Linfield.

Not entirely sure if there was an official programme, as many who went claimed there wasn't anything produced. but here's a single sheet offering that was folded in two. It was a crude photcopied effort and I have two both with different covers, one cruder than the other. Both came from club sources at the time so its possible they were on offer to just the staff and officials.

I have been unable to find a programme for this date although I suppose I could have used one dated August to follow a recent trend. Laughing

I do however have a ticket from a match played on Blackpool’s most ambitious pre season tour of recent times, the trip to St Kitts and Nevis in the Carribean for the 3rd annual St Kitts Football Festival.

This pair of islands is located within the Leeward Islands and is a federal two island state. It is the smallest sovereign state in the Americas.

This match was against Joe Public a team from Trinidad and Tobago.

The match was played in Basseterre at the Warner Park Stadium which was one of the hosts for the 2007 cricket world cup.

8 years ago today 2005....and its over the Irish Sea once more.

The Foyle Cup. (Start)

Sheffield United's U18s went onto win 4-0 against Donegal in the final.

Dean Oliver got a hat-trick, he never played for the Blades at senior level, and is now at Stafford Rangers.

The other goalscorer was Nicky travis, who also never played for the Blades but was given a free transfer to Central Coast mariners in the Australian A League. He now plays for Siracusa in Italy's Serie C.

Blackpool's first pre season friendly this afternoon against Penrith at the picturesque Frenchfield Park.

This was possibly Tom Ince's last game for the Seasiders and it was quite fitting he got on the score sheet along with Matt Phillips in a 2-0 victory.

An excellent 40 page part colour programme was issued but it has no date on the cover.

Cardiff sent a team the the Foyle Cup on at least one occassion. Could you tell me whether they were they there for this tournament?
