I've had a number of queries recently re these. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I get mine from the Kollectables programme shop in Parnie Street, Glasgow - just around the back of the Trongate.
However, there is an internet address as well for them which is www.diamondcomics.com and you purchase them there, as well as acidic free cardboard boxes. The boxes are my next purchase as the plastic boxes I use now are too bulky, whereas the boxes are made to ensure that the bagged and boarded programmes fit snuggly in them. This should free up quite a bit of storage space and make trnsportation of programmes to fairs etc a lot easier. The blurb on the website says that these boxes can withstand up to 200lbs weight on top of them. Will now probably be able to transport all my stock in the boot without taking the seat down. Brilliant!

I am on the verge of moving and have "secured" the downstairs cubby hole (formerly used as a computer area) for the collection! When it comes out of storage I shall have them all neatly stacked in their various boxes (different sizes for different eras...) and the rest in different boxes according to relevance (rare matches folder) and so on - with the tickets/books/memorabilia and so on all there neatly in one place.

Even planning to get some of those sticky print off labels to identify the seasons (some have more than one in them)

Oh the joy (no seriously, it's just a football programme (or catalogue as my other half calls them!!!!!!) but - for the first time they will have a dedicated - downstairs - place.

Oh and I saw the other day that Tesco's are doing a deal on black folders (smallish) with plastic folders - for around £2-3...

Ha!! Saddo!

Dan

I recently bought some ring binders from a company in Staines called Celsur Plastics, white A5, although a multitude of sizes, excellent quality, white plastic with clear inserts for your own cover and spine design, delivered the very next day.

Cheap as you like, although a set postage of £7.50, so make sure you order all you need. They also sell plastic pockets, equally as cheap, although I've no idea if they are acid free.

For the folders go to: http://stock.celsur.co.uk/shop.....g-binders/

I would really recommend these, very good quality and great service, and the variety of sizes is fantastic.

I currently store my programmes in binders like these:

http://www.footballprogrammecentre.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=974

I am pretty pleased with them, although they are unable to store the new landscape style programmes Pompey produce.

Thank goodness for that! I much prefer the usual style. Hopefully the club will do a subscription again like last year, that way they stay in good condition.

The way i do it is quite complicated, but gives the programmes a fantastic look. Firstly, i buy acid free comic book bags, in packs of 100. I then put the programme in them, and fold the excess around the back and tape it there, so it fits snug around the programme. I then use one of those rexel presentation folders, of A4 size and get some black card and adhesive photo corners. I attach the photo corners to each corner of the programme (in it's comic book bag) and stick it to the centre of the black card. I then slip them in to the presentation folder. This way my programmes are all central and secure and look fantastic. Hope this helps!

I thought the major problem with the traditional poly pocket bags were that the glue on paper would over time attach itself to the programme and the paper backing would attract moisture.

Wouldn't moisture be equally problematic in the acid free bags discussed on this thread ?

I currently have my programmes stored in sealable 100% polypropylene pockets that are primarily used for greeting cards. I understood that these would not react with the print or paper and as they were sealed would not allow moisture to collect.

I am looking for some reassurance that I have made a good choice for long term storage as I have over 2500 programmes stored in these bags.

Any comments welcome, Richard

I'm no expert with this Trickee, but apparently Mylar sleeves are the best thing for long term storage, and are used for archiving in many of the worlds largest libraries. Obviously the cost is higher because of the quality. Polypropylene is the next best thing though and you shouldn't have any worries.

Now neatly stored in their own dedicated "room" - actually a small cupboard in the hallway. Shelved and boxed... in order

I'll send a picture when I get the time!

Dookie your binders sound great I would be interested in seeing pictures of the inside of them if you have any available.

I currently keep my boro home programmes in club binders, however I am not sure if I want to keep them this way in the long term as all the programmes are held together eith no protection in between. The binders just have pieces of string in to hold programmes by the centre if you know what I mean.

The most annoying thin is that they are not big enough to hold some whole seasons in.

e.g 2005-06 when we got to Carling cup QF, FA cup SF and UEFA Cup Final as well as league (no chance of getting all of these in one).

I have not got any binders for aways yet as some are square and other dodgy sizes. I am not sure if there is a binder possible to hold different sizes of programmes together as I want to keep them all in season sets.

Finally getting around to properly storing my collection, after having a sort out of the programmes I want to keep and want to sell.

My early Stevenage programmes (1980-95) are being stored in acidic free bags with the excess folded over onto the back and sellotaped. Then I place them in the official club binders (which I purchased today, 6 of them as that's all they'll have left for £3 each).

The other programmes are for now going to be stored in the same acidic free bags but in IKEA Kassett paper/file boxes which can each store about 55 modern-day programmes.

I hope the rest of my Stevenage collection will eventually go into official binders, but the current ones have all sold out. The guy in the club shop said they may get some different ones in and at a lower price than the original £8.99 as well. Here's hoping!

I'm also started to work on getting my programmes organised in a better fashion.

I'm currently using a combination of see-through plastic storage boxes and cardboard A4 copy paper boxes "acquired" from work.

The reason for this is the plastic boxes can't quite store A4 programmes flat so I use the cardboard boxes for the more modern programmes.

Chris, which size box from the range - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/series/11496/ - do you use?
