Thank you Bazza. Please forward to David Cameron.

It is confirmed it's the Dell - it could be Salisbury v Millwall but 1980 FAC is too early for shirt sponsors I think.

In a Southern League game against Bath City on 24 January 1976, Kettering became the first British club to play with a sponsor's name printed on their shirts after signing a deal with local firm Kettering Tyres.

OK, my Saints man advises it is definitely the Dell and almost certainly the FA Cup match between Salisbury and Millwall on 24th Nov 1979.

This 1st round proper match was switched to the Dell (probably on police advice) and 8,805 attended. Millwall won 2-1 (unluckily, according to the Salisbury Journal).

So now, would it be Salisbury in the yellow/black celebrating their goal with that sponsorship? And Millwall in all-white?

Hi
This has nothing on the back but seems to be a goal celebration.
Someone said it could be Kidderminster, but these aren't their shirts/sponsors etc.
Also looks a bit like Oxford (Jeremy Charles No 10?) but again not their usual sponsors.
And the stadium - does it look familiar?
Any clues please?
Cheers
Pete

Looking at the picture I sincerely hope it's a goal celebration.

No this is a goal celebration

Skipping over the lovey-dovey images, I'm sorry to advise that the info about Salisbury v Millwall is incorrect.

A Millwall historian I know says that in this game Millwall wore blue and Salisbury wore white.

So it is the Dell - but it isn't that game. I'll go back to the Saints man now.

There was also a fareham v kidderminster fat s/f played on the 12/4/87?

Looking at the crowd there were a fair few there so not sure if it would have been a soton senior cup final or hants senior cup final?

Clarkie, that sounds more credible to me - the bloke I got it from said it was probably Kidderminster.

So guess they'd be in white and Fareham would be in the yellow/blue with sponsors or whatever colours they were.

Well done and thank you. Don't collect Saints press photos I suppose?

The colours couldn't be that way round as Kidderminster won the match 2-0. I've contacted a Fareham Town supporter to see if they can shed any light on it.

I went through all of the English league shirts last night and couldn't find that shirt sponsor logo.

The reply from Fareham:

Mark

That may well be us against Kiddy in the FA Trophy Semi final in 1987 in the white (no's 3 & 4 with their backs to the camera) Looking at our line up that day, both players had dark hair and the no3 (Domenyk Newman) was quite gangly as the photo suggests too.

Kiddy wore gold shirts that day which supports the colours of the celebrating team.

Ground certainly looks like the Dell too.

Hope that helps

Regards

Splodge

80's photo - 5x4" so very small - goal celebration - I don't currently have any customers of either club - what's it worth? Tricky innit?

But the research and all that chat & speculation are just why I love doing this.
