Alan Shearer Question?

Hi,

Anyone able to help me I am trying to find out when Alan shearer made his Southampton reserves debut and if there was a sheet produced for this?

Might have been against Bournemouth Kitchens and a nice glossy brochure was produced..

Any idea on a date so i could check back on my reserve programmes for you?

Hi Ian,

If you could check the reserve programmes from 1986-88 and see when his name first appears on one as I am not sure when he made his first appearance for the reserves.

The 1st game i could see alan shearer was

arsenal away fa youth cup 1/12/86

then the next was whu 28/4/87

so he may have played in the youth cup games only, which aresenal was the 1st.

i have not got all the reserves for that season so can not guarentee.

His first start then came two weeks later on 25th April 1986 which was a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

So If anyone has a programme/teamsheet from these games they want to sell?

The dates you have provided are wrong it was season 86/7 not 85/6?

11/4/1987 brighton home and chelsea away 25/4/87?

The earliest record I can find of his appearances in the Football Combination league are: as a substitute on 11th April 1986 – a 4-3 home win over Brighton. Scorers: Benali, Le Tissier and Wallace (2)
His first start then came two weeks later on 25th April 1986 which was a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

So it may still be the dates i provided before arsenal youth cup 1/12/86

Just looking at some saints prog and in the arsenal prog dated 15/11/86

was this;

"alan shearer recently turned 16 played a key role in saints youth 3-1 win at southend last weekend"

So i would say the youth cup game at arsenal was more than likely his first game.

The information I got was direct from Southampton's records after emailing them for when he first played so slightly confused.
