I like his pre-Rex stuff but I wouldn't rave about it........"Beltane Walk" is a great track, though.

Got a John's Children pic sleeve 45 that I think I'll hold on to Smile

The early songs are definitely the best. I take it it's Desdemona - It was banned because of the lyrics "Lift up your skirt and fly" which was a reference to a witch riding on a broomstick

That's the one, Eck........though I far prefer the b-side "Remember Thomas A-Beckett" which is just magnificent. British pop-psych is my "thing" and I've been dealing in that genre for years now.
Andy Ellison of JC contributes a great track to the "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush" soundtrack album on the black Fontana label.... "It's Been A Long Time"...complete with seagull sound effects! Tremendous number. An LP that is also in demand from collectors (I have the mono version)
EMI gave Bolan & T Rex the luxury of their own label for their 45s..in a natty dark blue design..and there's growing interest in those as the years go by. So don't let them go cheap!

My wife and I was at the Bolan 35th anniversary tribute in London and Andy Ellison did a song,I can't remember if it was Desdemona but I think it was, I saw him outside before the gig and I recognized him although I hadn't seen him for 30 years. Andy Ellison admitted that they murdered Bolan's songs. They got together when Bolan's manager Simon Napier Bell bailed them on condition that they let him manage them. They went on tour with the who and caused a riot in Germany and had to flee the country.

When I think Andy Ellison I think of Radio Stars.......now I loved genuine punk rock 76/77 but I was never convinced by them (with the possible exception of "The Beast Of Barnsley"!!)

Ah well, I'm just an old hippy at heart, Eck.........think I'll just stick to my sunshine pop/flower power 45s / LPs Smile
At least I know where I stand with them..

PS - is insomnia a common factor amongst Scottish members of this forum??!!

All the best, Eck......thinking about you, pal. Touch wood, fingers crossed everything works out ok.
I'm up all night half the time but not for anything like the reasons you are. Makes me feel selfish, frankly.

Not forum-based but still its worth a mention.

A thanks to Lynn at Notts County for sending me a current season cup programme for my collection. Why spend £10+ on ebay when you can email the club and they send you one for cover price £3 plus 50p postage?

I find it strange that this thread is not used as often as it used to be....or maybe should be. Nevertheless, many thanks to the following people who have helped me recently,

Jake for some cracking programmes, 1980Cossie, Manchesterunitedman1 and BJM for providing me with some superb info, and not forgetting Sharrowblade for running an excellent prediction competition over the season.

All top guys who make the hobby so worthwhile Thumbs Up
