I do not know who comes up with the names but Michael Carrick, Gareth Bale, Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata have been nominated.

Only one winner for me out of that lot - Gareth Bale.

Who would you vote for - on and off the list?

Bale.

I'd have swapped in Michu for Hazard on that list though.

Also don't understand how Welbeck has made it onto the Young Player of the Year list.

Is this the same award that Dave Mackay and Tony Book shared one year? (1969?)

Bale for me I think that him and Theo Walcott are the best players in the country.

Of no consequence whatsoever, but I just thought I'd say that Bale, Walcott, Suarez, any of them, could only dream of scoring a goal like I saw Graeme Montgomery of Boreham Wood score this season against Eastbourne Borough inthe Conference South.

Stumbled across it on YouTube........take a look if you're waiting for the kettle to boil or something:

The goal in question is 2:25 into the video clip...beat that, Gareth!!

A good technique but a decent keeper would have taken a step to the left and chested it down.

Who else could do this? Maybe Maradonna.

A genius. I was fortunate enough to see him at Pittodrie in both a Clydebank and Motherwell shirt.
Never a 'Gers one though, Eck!

The goal reminded me in Gascoigne's in Euro 96 against....well, we won't go into that.

The thing about Davie Cooper was that he didn't always turn it on.I think he needed more of a challenge and should have at least went to England. He had the ability to play for any club in the world but was a man of simpe tastes, loved Rangers and Scotland, going to the bookies and no fancy foreign holidays he used to go to Blackpool for a couple of weeks in the summer. It was said that he left Rangers because they signed a catholic (Mo Johnston) but that is a story put about by the uglies after he died,he actually left because he was getting less and less starts at Rangers.

Very good but was Graeme Montgomery's a one off? Bale has many spectacular goals to his credit.
