Can we get Hearts? Wink

Let's wait to the final though Very Happy

If both Everton and Hearts enter the Play off round, there may be a chance of both side meeting, unless 16 seeded teams I think get knocked out of the 3rd qualifying round, which is quite unlikely but in that case, I believe Hearts will be seeded and will not be able to draw Everton.

There is still a chance UEFA will slightly alter the number of teams in each Europa league qualifier so no team gets automatic entry to the Group Stages.

There is meant to be one current holders spot guarenteed in the group stages for the UEFA Cup winner, if the winner has qualified for the Champions League, like Shakhtar, they cannot now enter the Europa League. My understanding of it all, is if Everton win the FA cup, they will enter into the group stages no problem, but if they don't, I think UEFA may decide to take away the entry to the group stages, because they want more prestige in the domestic cup competitions.

If they decide this is the best way forward, 2 teams from Q1 will enter Q2, 2 from Q2 will enter Q3 which means there will be one team extra in the PO round, the "current holders" place in the group stages will be taken away which means one team will drop back down to the PO round which means there is 76 teams in the PO round, 38 going through, joined by 10 from the Champions League, making 48 teams in total.

Confused? Confused

I'll leave the original post as it is just now, until the FA Cup final has been played, we'll not know what UEFA will do.

Wow, what a confuing competition!

Maybe it's best for me to just wait until the draw is made to try and make sense of it haha

Does anyone know if there will be a brand new trophy next season or will they use the old UEFA Cup?

I've edited the OP to show no direct entry to the group stages of the Europa League. We'll need to wait to see if UEFA decide to give the FA Cup winners/5th automatic entry, their new Europa League regulations aren't clear, in the case the Uefa Cup winners have qualified for the Champions League, which has happened with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Now that a few more teams have qualified, it's starting to take shape a bit more now, Next week after the domestic cup finals, I'll add the coefficients to see what teams will be seeded and unseeded. We'll also find out about the only grey area - the current holders place in the Group Stages.

and, UEFA will be using the Uefa Cup trophy for the Europa League.

Grimsbybarralad - there was never this problem with a midweek trip to the Old Show Ground for the Lincolnshire Cup? Guaranteed a "special" train, plenty of beer flowing, running the gauntlet down the Doncaster Road, and spanking the Scunny Bunnies to either reach another final, or to win it. Always used to be single sheet programmes as well.
Trying desperately to remember the name of the Scunny pub - it was the *********** hotel, where there was a transvestite singer / compere in the 1970's. What a spectacle, and all the guys living in the steel works village just off the motorway would be in there hollering their heads off (it was a difficult time living in a nissan hut village with only other males for company, I'm led to believe)
Proper football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the name you are looking for is the "Royal Hotel".

But, yes indeed. Proper football.... Love

CL 2nd QR (all unseeded - will continue with seeded teams ranking for next round if qualifying)
1 Bohemians Dublin - tough draw
2 Rhyl FC - very tough draw
3 Glentoran - very tough draw

Red Bull Salzburg (Aut) v Bohemians (Irl)
Rhyl (Wal) v Partizan (Ser)
Maccabi Haifa (Isr) v Glentoran (Nir)

Can't see any of the British teams winning here!

Need to win tie to proceed to 3rd Rd (where they would qualify for CL 4th Rd or Europa 4th Rd - all unseeded)

CL 3rd QR (seeded - winners proceed to 4th QR, losers to 4th QR Europa)

4 Celtic (would be seeded in Europa 4th QR)

CL 4th QR (seeded - winners proceed to Group Stage CL, losers to Group Stage Europa)

5 Arsenal

CL Group Stages (8 Groups of 4: 1st and 2nd proceed to last 16, 3rd placed teams to Europa KO Stage - last 32)

6 Liverpool (Seeded 1)
7 Chelsea (Seeded 1)
8 Man Utd (Seeded 1)
9 Rangers (Seeded 3)

Europa:

1st QR

Seeded:
10 Motherwell - ought to beat Llanelli

Unseeded:
11 Lisburn Distillery - got a chance with a visit to Georgia
12 Linfield - tough draw but not impossible
13 Llanelli FC - will probably lose to Motherwell
14 The New Saints - got a chance but unseeded.

Lisburn Distillery (Nir) v Zestaponi (Geo)
Motherwell (Sco) v Llanelli (Wal)
Randers (Den) v Linfield (Nir)
Sligo Rovers (Irl) v Vllaznia (Alb)
The New Saints (Wal) v Fram (Isl)

2nd QR
Seeded:
15 Falkirk
16 St. Patrick's Athletic
17 Derry City

Unseeded:
18 Crusaders Belfast
19 Sligo Rovers
20 Bangor City

Suduva (Lit) v Randers or Linfield
Flamurtari Vlore (Alb) v Motherwell or Llanelli - a clear chance for Motherwell to proceed
Lisburn Distillery or Zestaponi v Helsingborg (Swe) or MIKA (Arm)

Falkirk (Sco) v Vaduz (Lie) - a good draw for Falkirk
St Patrick's Athletic (Irl) v Valletta (Mal) or Keflavik (Ice) - got a chance
Skonto (Lat) v Derry City (Irl) - got a chance to win this
Rabotnicki (Mkd) v Crusaders (Nir) - trip to Macedonia, will be tough
Rapid Wien (Aut) v Sligo Rovers or Vllaznia - very tough draw
Honka (Fin) v Bangor City (Wal) - got a chance to proceed but won't be easy

These ties are sometimes hard to gauge - not ones you'd necessarily want to put your money on!

3rd QR
Seeded:
21 Fulham
22 Aberdeen

Opponents are all beatable - chances in 4th Rd depend on whether they are seeded and if not the luck of the draw.

4th QR:
Seeded:
23 Everton
24 Aston Villa

Everton and Villa should get a reasonably winnable tie.

Unseeded:
25 Hearts (may be seeded)

Have a good chance if getting favourable draw - moreso if seeded.

Summary:
Expect to see Arsenal and possibly Celtic in main draw for CL Group Stages with 4 other British teams.

Expect to see Everton, Villa and perhaps Hearts (and a sporting chance for Fulham and Aberdeen) in the Group Stages of Europa. Motherwell have been given a chance with a decent draw to proceed a few rounds and you never know if Falkirk get lucky too in the 3rd Round draw they both might make the 4th Rd!!
