Anyone going to the Olympics?

Just managed to get 2 tickets for the football at Coventry on 1st August. £36 for me and the lad, but that covers 2 matches.

No idea who is playing, booked it more for the lad than anything.

Anyone else doing anything for the Olympics, before we get into the heated debate about the cost of it and benefit to other areas of the country other than London

Got 4 sessions of football (1 at coventry, 3 at wembley including the womens final), 2 handball and 2 hockey sessions.
Doing Paralympics aswell, going to Athletics, Cycling, Swimming and 5 a side football. Its a once in a life time opportunity to see it take place in this country, living in London i'm making the most of it seeing as the tax man has taken plenty off me for it!

I've got 2 tickets for an Old Trafford double header, but I've since found out that my application to be a volunteer has been successful, so I'll be working/volunteering at the Athlete's Village, so I may not get to see my games! But being part of the whole thing should make up for that!! Very Happy

I'll hopefully be competing in the 100 metres final alongside Usain Bolt. I've heard he'll likely be cacking himself at the prospect.....especially as I'll be in the car!

I think you'll have plenty of room........

Personally I'd rather cut my baws off with a rusty claymore.

Have men's football at Coventry and Newcastle and women's boxing semi finals and finals (Katie Taylor is Ireland's best hope of a medal). Will probably have to cut it short now though because of Euro2012. Can't do everything and Ukraine will be horrendously expensive if we end up there.

I am rather ambivalent toward the whole thing still, despite living only 15 minutes away from the main stadium by train.
There is going to be a major shock in store for overseas fans in the next few months when they discover that there is no room left at the Welcome Inn, so I will be looking to hire out DQ Towers for three weeks to an unsuspecting Yank with deep pockets...the dosh will fund my jaunt to the Tour de France just nicely...

I was considering applying for tickets for some events last year until I saw the prices. I know it's a one off but some of the tickets are a serious rip off.

The football prices aren't too bad but i've been to all the stadiums before (except Hampden) so i'm saving the cash for the Euros instead.

The Torch Relay goes down my High Street (Dorking in Surrey) on July 20, then just over a week later, the Mens and Womens Cycling Road race take place through our town as well.

Admittedly it's over in a flash as they whizz past, but it's totally free, which can't be bad.

Might be a street spectator for the marathon too, although will decide nearer the time.

It's not that I'm tight - I just think the tickets are a bit on the high side.

I'll happily buy a programme or the odd bit of merch though - want some sort of momento of this happening.
