FA Cup 1st Draw on ITV in a few minutes.....

Fingers crossed for my nearest non-league team Hythe Town from step 5, hope they get a dream draw.

They played out of their skins against Conference South side Staines Town yesterday, not bad for a local Kent League team.

Come On Hythe!!

I don't think it matters who out of Dover or Farnborough get through, either one of them will beat Gills sadly...

Fair play to Hythe, great achievement for a Step 5 team to reach the first round.

I still have nightmares about Havant & Waterlooville so would appreciate them being knocked out before we come in, thanks Very Happy

I would have thought there will be loads unsold as FCUB's ethos is against modern football, they are especially against changing kick off times for TV... They boycotted a game a couple of seasons ago that was changed in order to be streamed live on the internet so if they had any consistency or morals they will also be boycotting this game...

Oh hang on, its the FA Cup, its lots of money for them... lots of money for a team who were set up as a protest against money ruining football.

Fucking hypocrites.

In fairness, they've never denied that they need money to exist.

Can you really compare the enforced switch of a Unibond League match for a two-bob internet streaming company with an F.A. Cup tie on mainstream T.V.? The FCuM fans were well aware when they entered the F.A. Cup that there might be a potential change of date for televised rounds and VOTED to enter. Their choice.

Yes, yes I can and I did. How are they different? They are only different because of the money

Thank you for agreeing with my point about their hypocrisy

I may be wrong here, and am happy to be corrected, but isn't it basically compulsary for teams above a certain level to enter the FA Cup. I seem to recall Colne Dynamosi think it was, not entering the FA Cup as they only wished to enter competitions they could win. I think that it was as a direct response to the FAs stance on this that they ceased to play.
As I say, I may be completely wrong, but it may not be totally FCUMs fault thatr they agree to play in the Cup.

Think you're right.

I know that clubs have no say when games are played and can't deny TV companies showing the games live

I am not 100% certain but I dont think it is compulsary to play in the FA Cup. Teams down to step 4 are automatically accepted but they have to apply for a place and pay a registration fee, therefore if a team does not want to play in the competition they can simply not apply and not pay the £75 registration fee.

Manchester United opted out to play in the world club championship. This could have been used as a prescident if FCUB had the conviction of their 'principles' to opt out. I dont suspect the FA would have done anything about it given the media wankfest FCUB and their 'ethos' commands.

To be fair to United i think they were forced into a situation where they had no choice but to leave the FA Cup i don;t think it was their own choice but more to do with the FA wanting them to play in the World Club Championships, so that the FA could do a bit if the, our team played in your tournament now cough up for something for us line (trying to get votes for hosting tournaments, holding European showpiece finals in Britain etc)...

Scrap that.

FCUB had the choice of whether the game could be shown live on TV or not!

http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/story.php?story_id=3185

The article also states that they were considering not taking part in the FA Cup, which answers Wulfrunian's question

All their credibility (not that they had much anyway in my opinion) has now gone.
