Have a look at this page (scroll down to the foot) for the England v Scotland match card from 1873.

Is it the oldest programme in existence? In fact, does it even qualify as a programme, as it was overprinted with the result after the match (a bit like cricket scorecards are)?

There was a programme on ebay about 5 years ago from the early 1860's for a Sheffield FC home fixture. It sold for around £125.00 and appeared in programme monthly a short time later. I believe that programme is the oldest known football programme.

Yes I remember the Sheffield programme, but it was for an athletics meeting, or their annual sports, rather than for a football match. I think it was 1868.

If I recall correctly

Quite a few years back Programme Monthly had an article about the game a year earlier and somebody turned up the 1872 programme in a jumble sale.

You must have a tardis in your house, or are you the only person that turned up to support England, that day, you have a very good memory a photographic one like me.
