Ive come across an unusual fixing on a Grimsby badge that Ive not seen before, can anyone give me a bit of background ???

Ive already put it up on Ebay but Im wanting to add a bit more detail if I can.

I'd say thats its probably a re-issue of the original and was probably re-issued in the 1980's, I'm sure the original issue was gilt but don't quote me on this! The back fixing is called - horseshoe
