Linguistically speaking, I thought I was concise. BTW, pare a thought for poor old Hydemaine who will think he's probably got 3 positive responses to his plea? Will have to ply him with further drink next time he steps o'er the border.

Anderlecht-v-Arsenal sold out on the day and a programme went for around £5000 not that long ago in auction. It was also in 1969/70 season!

there are actually 2 items of interest from that match. The programme (pink cover) will usually go for £250-£350 on ebay. There is also an anderlecht newspaper which is rarely available and will fetch a lot lot more. Thus I suspect the £5000 item was the newspaper rather than the match programme.

The Anderlecht v Arsenal newspaper in question is named ''Anderlecht Sports'' and was dated 18th April 1970. I have one in my collection paid £200 for it.

Budds sold one at their November 2008 auction for £250

http://www.grahambuddauctions......LotRef=486

I have never heard of any Fairs Cup Final programme/ magazine/ newspaper selling for £5000 & would be interested to know which item this was as the Anderlecht sports issue was the only official item produced by Anderlecht apart from the two official programmes, one printed on good quality paper and another possibly a reprint printed on poor quality paper & individually numbered.

The are only three European Finals worth anywhere near that amount i believe which are the 1956 EC1 Final,(£6000-£8000) 1958 EC1 Final (£5000-£6000) & the 1973 EC1 Final official programmes. (£3500-£5000) & the 1958 EC1 Final Official Belgian FA programmes (Sportleven - Dutch) & (La Vie Sportive - French) £2000-£3000

Well, what do you know?
I bought a 1956 European Cup Final programme for about forty quid - many years ago, probably in the 1960's.
Also I wrote to Red Star Belgrade in March 1958 requesting a pre-Munich Manchester United programme - and they sent me one! Not bad for the price of a stamp.
In the same year was the World Cup in Sweden, and I bought a full set of programmes for 2/6d each (12 1/2 pence in new money) and 4 shillings for the final (20 pence).
Also I remember paying £120 for a 1920 FA Cup Final programme about 20 years ago; I've got all of them since as well as many other major finals and internationals.
Sorry gentlemen but not yet for sale, unless Mr Abravomic would like to make me an offer. But it shows how our hobby has appreciated over the years.

Yes!
I'm "getting on" a bit - having been a pensioner for just 2 years.
However, with the geatest respect, I prefer to correspond with people who have some respect, so kindly keep personal remarks to yourself.
